Printed Wire Board (PWB) Designer (2025-023) Astronics Subsidiary Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) Location Kirkland, WA Description **Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems** (AES) is seeking a **Staff Level or Principal Level Printed Wire Board (PWB) Designer** to join our **Engineering Services Group** in **Kirkland, WA** . If you're passionate about making an impact and driving innovation with a forward-thinking company that stays at the forefront of the latest technologies in the aircraft industry—and has been **recognized as one of Washington's Best Places to Work for 16 consecutive years** —please read on! **JOB SUMMARY** A PWB Designer with Astronics AES works with electrical and mechanical engineers to place and route components for complex Printed Wiring Boards (a.k.a. Printed “Circuit” Boards) in compliance with applicable standards and specifications and generates PWB fabrication drawings and associated files. Supports electrical engineering for schematic design and drawing output and supports component development and database entry for schematic and layout CAD libraries. **ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES** + Performs PWB layouts of high complexity and generates associated fabrication files and drawing documentation. + Trains and mentors team members on layout best practices and provides consultation and guidance to junior engineers for PWB-related areas as needed. + Acts as focal and/or lead for cross-functional technical reviews of PWB board design. + Updates procedures and guidelines to document best practices. Generates new procedures and guidelines for the department by working with internal customers and contract manufacturers’ vendors. + Identifies and implements PWB CAD usage improvements. May research and introduce new software tools and techniques as the opportunity arises. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **Education:** + Associate’s degree from an accredited college or technical school highly desired. A suitable combination of work experience and education may be considered in place of a two-year degree. **Experience:** + Demonstrates **_proficiency_** (typically achieved with ten (10) or more years of direct experience with the essential responsibilities and technical skills of the role) for consideration as **Staff PWB Designer** . + Demonstrates **_expertise_** (typically achieved with fifteen (15) or more years of direct experience with the essential responsibilities and technical skills of the role) for consideration as **Principal PWB Designer** . **Technical Skills:** _Experience_ _in the following skills is_ _required_ _, while_ **_expertise_** _is preferred:_ + PWB Layout CAD Software (Mentor Graphics PADS) + Schematic CAD software (Cadence OrCAD) + Microsoft Office Suite software + SharePoint and other web-based data tools + PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software (Empower-Omnify) + 2D CAD software familiarity (AutoCAD) + PDF Software (Adobe Acrobat Pro) **EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS** + As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by _International Traffic in Arms Regulations_ (ITAR). **Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible** . + An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and **drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis** . **Staff PWB Designer base salary range is $78,485 - $117,727 per year.** **Principal PWB Designer base salary range is $85,548 – $128,322 per year.** At Astronics AES, it is more typical for an individual to be hired closer to the mid-point than near the top of the range.
