Accommodation is available upon request for candidates taking part in the selection process. **Global Data Privacy and Protection Lawyer** **How does this role contribute to our collective success?** The Global Privacy Counsel will support the DPO and ensure that AXIS Capital properly protects personal and non-public information, to continue to build and maintain trust with our customers, employees, regulators, and business partners. This will be accomplished through the creation, implementation and monitoring of privacy, data protection and cybersecurity policies, standards and procedures and remediation of contracts and agreements that reflect the laws and regulations globally. This critical role will involve close interaction and partnership with the various owners and users of information and with the Data Privacy and Protection team in London/Halifax. There will be significant, independent interaction with senior management therefore exceptional judgment, technical expertise, attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Candidates must also be flexible, resourceful and team-oriented, willing to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to a wide variety of initiatives and projects to support AXIS in its response to the rapidly evolving privacy and cybersecurity landscape. **What will you do in this role?** + Provide legal advice and guidance to the DPO, senior management, business units and support functions regarding AXIS’s obligations under global data privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations + Prepare privacy notices and review, advise on, draft, amend and negotiate privacy clauses in a variety of contracts + Investigate and advise on privacy incidents, breaches and data subject requests and maintain and update a list of global regulatory notification requirements + Assist the DPO to identify and mitigate privacy risks and develop and maintain compliance strategies + Monitor data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity laws and regulations across the global jurisdictions in which AXIS conducts business + Assist with development and delivery of data privacy and protection awareness and training materials to AXIS staff + Coordinate with outside counsel as needed to ensure those services are used in most effective way + Provide and/or coordinate legal services to the Vendor Management Office You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role. **About You:** We encourage you to bring your own experience and expertise to the table, so while there are some qualifications and experiences, we need you to have, we are open to discussing how your individual knowledge might lend itself to fulfilling this role and help us achieve our goals. **What you need to have:** + Accredited law school graduate with strong academics. + Licensed to practice law and in good standing. + Four to six years’ experience in a large law firm or in-house. + Significant knowledge of data privacy and protection laws such as GDPR, CPRA, NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulation, GLBA, various global AI regulations and practical experience of giving legal advice on such matters. + Experience within, and understanding of, the insurance and reinsurance industry **What we prefer you to have:** + Experience with commercial contracts will be an advantage. + Strong analytical skills, including ability to focus quickly on key elements of legal and regulatory risk, coupled with good technical drafting and negotiation skills. + Excellent communication skills, including ability to synthesize information and communicate efficiently with a variety of stakeholders. + Strong business acumen and responsive, service-oriented attitude. + Proven ability to take ownership of projects. + Flexibility and ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities. **Role Factors:** In this full time role, you will typically be required to be in the office 3 days per week. The DPPO sits within the Legal & Compliance Function and there is also development opportunities for this candidate for legal support to the Chief Legal Officer. **What we offer:** For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of 190k-210k (GA). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location. In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
