What you’ll be doing
As a Private Banker, you will cultivate new and manage existing high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) client relationships, delivering tailored banking and lending solutions. You’ll actively manage a portfolio, providing customized credit and deposit services while collaborating with CIBC Private Wealth Management and CIBC Commercial Banking to expand relationships.
Your role involves serving as a trusted advisor, deepening client relationships, and introducing clients to Wealth and Commercial partners. Through strategic business development and risk management, you will drive the profitable growth of client relationships.
How you’ll succeed
Develop and grow client relationships: Establish new private banking lending and deposit relationships while deepening existing ones.
Provide customized banking solutions: Support all banking and lending needs, acting as the primary internal resource for client credit and deposit services.
Collaborate with internal partners: Work with Relationship Managers and team members to secure new business approvals and manage modifications to existing relationships.
Drive credit and lending success: Structure deals that align with client needs while mitigating risk, working closely with Underwriting and Credit Risk Management to navigate the approval process.
Expand client solutions: Identify opportunities for additional credit and non-credit services, coordinating with other business units to deliver comprehensive solutions.
Ensure portfolio management excellence: Oversee portfolio reviews, address past-due items, manage renewals, and collect key financial information to maintain risk integrity.
Manage risk and compliance: Maintain accurate risk ratings, stay informed on policy and regulatory changes, and ensure adherence to credit policy and risk frameworks.
Support team success: Collaborate with peers, mentor junior team members, and contribute to a high-performing team environment.
Engage in the market: Represent CIBC Private Wealth Management through active participation in local industry events, building brand awareness and expanding client networks.
Who you are
Experienced private banker: You have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience managing lending and deposit relationships for HNW and UHNW clients.
Educational background: A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or Economics is preferred.
Deep credit expertise: You have extensive experience structuring loans, underwriting credit, and mitigating risk.
Investment and trust knowledge: You understand investment portfolios, trust solutions, and how to integrate them into broader wealth strategies.
Relationship-focused: You excel at maintaining private banking relationships and delivering high-touch client service.
Analytical and detail-oriented: You can assess credit risk, structure lending solutions, and complete financial analysis and documentation.
Tech-savvy: You are proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of financial analysis and modeling.
Team-oriented leader: You thrive in a collaborative environment and have experience mentoring junior team members.
Industry-savvy: Experience advising business owners and corporate executives in Private Wealth, Middle Market, or Large Corporate banking is highly desired.
Credit trained: Formal credit training is a plus.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $135,000 - $185,000 for the St. Louis, MO market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
