The IM Office of the COO is responsible for (1) identifying, assessing, managing and monitoring risk across all IM businesses including fund operations and 3rd party service providers, (2) implementing and supporting change management of divisional and departmental strategic initiatives, and (3) developing divisional presentations, reporting and analysis for IM and Firm management.
Primary Responsibilities:
High and frequent exposure to multiple COOs/CFOs of global Morgan Stanley private fundsInteract and provide governance/advise to COOs/CFOs on a daily basis over all financial accounting matters in a fast-paced environmentAct as an officer of the General Partner responsible for review and approve all funds cash movements, acquisitions, sales, capital calls, distributions and credit facility throughout the entire fund and investment structureCoordinate bank, custody & demand accounts opening, account deposit and withdrawal of securities Oversight of outsourced fund administration and other functions, such as: Quarterly and annual financial statements review (in US & IFRS, India GAAP, other GAAPs) and coordination with external auditors for year-end auditReview and approve quarterly and annual investor reportsReview and approve NAV strikes for capital call and share issuance Review and approve waterfall models, management fee, performance fee/carried interest calculations and investor allocationsSupport various MSIM teams for cross-border fund offerings and seek opportunities for automation of on-going operations to increase efficiencyConduct vendor service level review meetings and evaluate vendor’s performanceOnboard and offboard fund administrator vendors and their personnel Participate and spearhead various division wide strategic initiatives and continuous assessment of service operating models for optimization Coordinate and provide non-financial data required by the business unit such as customer flows, assets under management (AUM), validation and commentary, enforce business rules, etc. Legal Entity Management New fund & investment structure launches – review and provide comments on offering memorandum, partnership agreements, service agreements and entity structure chartsLiaise with MS accounting policy and corporate accounting for entity consolidation and reporting as well as MS firm accountingConduct Request for Proposal & pricing analysis for fund administrators, external auditors, custodial services, depositary, etc. and provide recommendations Regulatory ReportingReview fund & investor level information from fund administrators supporting various regulatory reporting in all applicable jurisdictions (SEC, AIFMD, AED, CIMA, CSSF, CSRC, HKSFC, SEBI, IFSCA, PPM Audits, etc.)Liaise with various Morgan Stanley stakeholders (regulatory reporting, compliance, legal, risk, etc.) to assess new regulatory forms to be filed for different funds and work with fund administrators in the implementation, manage deliverable deadlines, ensure completeness of entities in scope as well as accuracy of the regulatory formsAd-hoc projects and requestsQualifications

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
