Job Description:

At Regions, the Private Wealth Management Estate Settlement Administrator is accountable for the administration of a book of probate estates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Administration of these accounts includes coordination with external partners (Attorneys, CPAs), and internal support partners (compliance, investments, and operations) to ensure accurate, timely and efficient administration, and to manage risk. The position requires technical experience and knowledge in estate administration, in-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, and estate and tax requirements. This position is responsible for conducting necessary administration functions and regular personalized service to clients, beneficiaries, and financial representatives.

Administration includes providing high-quality service to clients/beneficiaries and developing new relationships to promote growth and profitability.


Primary Responsibilities

Reviews and interprets governing documents, such as wills and trusts, to ascertain the decedent’s estate planRequires technical experience and knowledge in estate administration, in-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, and estate and tax requirementsManages the set-up, implementation and administration of estatesAscertains and collects estate assets, including bank accounts, brokerage accounts, life insurance or any other assets owned by the decedentArranges for valuation of assets, which may include closely held stock, and real estateWorks with co-fiduciary, attorney and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to consider all tax elections and provide post-mortem tax planningFacilitates the preparation and timely filing of tax returns, including estate and Generation-Skipping Transfer (GST) tax returns, fiduciary income tax returns, and personal income tax returnsCoordinates the collection and review of tax records for decedents; work with tax partner and/or outside tax advisors and trust counsel to identify tax requirements, oversee gathering of appropriate information to resolve tax issues, and secure tax clearanceThis entails coordination of individual income tax requirements, fiduciary income taxation, estate taxation, and the GST TaxOversee investment decisions to include working with tax advisors for cost basis treatment and Investment Officer to protect principal during settlement phase as well as establish an appropriate portfolio for ongoing Trust sharesInitiate and review trust accountings required for judicial and informal settlement proceedingsEnsures that account administration complies with all legal requirements and Regions policies and proceduresIdentifies all areas of risk and minimizes risk to the estate and to RegionsCoordinates client service activities with other wealth management partners and serves as a resource for internal professionalsCalls on Centers of Influence (COIs) to develop good working relationshipsMay take responsibility for providing guidance to less experienced administratorsMay supervise other associates

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

Juris Doctorate, Certified Public Accountant, other advanced degreeSix (6) years of Trust Administration, Estate/Tax Law, Financial Planning, or related experienceStrong knowledge of risk management and fiduciary principles and processesStrong knowledge of principles, regulatory and tax matters relating to the administration of estates

Preferences

Master of Laws (LLM/Estates) or Master of Business Administration (MBA)Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Accredited Investment Fiduciary

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
