Job Summary
The PRN Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 is responsible for maintaining all unit-dose medications required for daily dispensing from Omnicell automated IV equipment. This role involves preparing and maintaining Omnicell IV automated equipment for daily use, performing advanced troubleshooting, maintaining optimal medication inventory levels, and reviewing and maintaining reports. The PRN Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 engages with various levels of customer service by identifying and addressing customer concerns and reports to the Pharmacy Services Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Perform IV automation tasks aseptically and error-free, in compliance with prescribed guidelines. Conduct cleaning and maintenance of IV automation equipment. Follow procedures for the safe handling of hazardous drugs when handling medications. Identify and order medications to maintain optimal inventory levels. Monitor and order consumable supplies necessary for equipment operation. Perform advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of IV automation equipment; escalate unresolved equipment issues to the IV Help Desk (HD). Communicate effectively with the Pharmacy Services Manager and customers to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution. Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by providing customer-focused support with professionalism, quality, and responsiveness. Act as a liaison between Omnicell and the customer to address concerns. Comply with IV compounding procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility. Complete negative fingertip and media fill sampling. Maintain state and/or national credentials to meet established guidelines.Required Knowledge and Skills
Strong organizational skills; accurate, reliable, and efficient. Demonstrated customer-facing and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work with mechanical equipment. Proficiency in computer hardware and PC Windows environments.Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Current and active New York State Board of Pharmacy license/registration. Active nationally certified pharmacy technician (CPhT): PTCB or ExCPT certifications accepted. Working knowledge of IV compounding and/or pharmacy automation equipment.Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Advanced troubleshooting skills with automation devices. Subject matter expert (SME) experience within the Pharmacy Services department. One year of IV compounding experience. Knowledge of the safe handling of hazardous medications. Proficiency in personal protective equipment (PPE) use and hand hygiene techniques. Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements. Familiarity with pharmacy automation.Work Conditions
This is a PRN On Call position. On-call support as needed for automation pharmacy technicians on vacation, leave of absence, etc. Shift will depend on the client’s needs. Pharmacy environment, including IV compounding robots and XR2 robots. Ability to stand for several hours at a time. Potential exposure to hazardous drugs. Ability to lift 25–30 lbs.Other
