Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, this state-of-the-art acute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers services in a wide variety of specialties to meet community needs. You'll be supported as you follow your dreams and find where you belong, here at Tradition Hospital.
As a Cook at Tradition Hospital, you will be responsible for following recipes, batch cooking, cooking for large volume, and doing short order cooking. You will have the opportunity to work with commercial cooking and complete individual orders. The equipment that you will use in this role includes a gas range, induction, steamser, dicers, and mixers.
A caregiver in this position will work evenings, 10:30 am or 11:30 am-7:00 pm or 8:00 pm. This can be up to 5 days per week. Every other weekend is mandatory.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Reviews menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be obtained and prepared.
Follows standardized recipes in preparation of all foods.
Plans cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food will be ready at specified times.
Ensures that all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance.
Confers with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers.
Adheres to HACCP guidelines in the food storage, handling and preparation and in the sanitation and maintenance of work area.
Ensures that all cooking equipment and utensils are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper operation.
Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions.
Other duties as assigned
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Sufficient previous experience in large scale food preparation; two or more years related experience.
Knowledge of cooking methods/procedures, including types of preparation and related routines.
Training in institutional food preparation.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects for tools, reach with hands and arms, stoop and lift or move objects up to 75 pounds.
Position requires normal or corrected vision.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
