Job Summary: Horizon Health, the nation’s largest operator of hospital-based behavioral health services in partnership with CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, NC is seeking a PRN Recreation Therapist for its Behavioral Health Program. As a Recreation Therapist with the Crossroads Behavioral Health Program, you will: Assess, plan, and implement recreational therapy approaches while aiding in the assessment of outcomes for patients dealing with psychiatric or substance abuse issues. Provide therapeutic and educational activities using both individual and group methods. Work with patients and families within an interdisciplinary team model Maintain responsibility for documentation in accordance with JCAHO and hospital standards.

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation, or a concentration in therapeutic recreation from an accredited college/university. A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CRTS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCRTC). A Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT) by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure (NCBRTL) or eligible to become an LRT. Experience working in behavioral health and/or substance use is preferred. Minimum of one-year experience as a Recreation Therapist. Proven capability to engage collaboratively and efficiently within a multidisciplinary treatment team framework. Ability to complete clinically significant documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Windows-based software applications.
