Position Summary:

The PRN RN – Coding Integrity Specialist provides as-needed support for ICD-10 coding and MDS recommendations for skilled nursing facility (SNF) admissions. This role requires a strong understanding of MDS processes and CMS regulations to ensure coding accuracy and compliance for Medicare and other payer claims.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Review clinical documentation to recommend accurate ICD-10 codes for skilled SNF admissions.Submit timely MDS Coding Recommendation Reports based on supporting documentation and regulatory guidelines.Ensure all recommendations align with CMS coding rules, RAI guidelines, and MDS assessment protocols.Identify and escalate documentation concerns or coding risks to the Director of Coding Integrity.Support occasional training or facility follow-up calls, as needed.Ability to complete MDS reports

Qualifications:

Active RN license (required).Strong working knowledge of the MDS and RAI guidelines (required).Experience with ICD-10 coding and Medicare SNF regulations.Minimum 2 years of experience in MDS coordination, SNF clinical coding, or related role.Ability to work independently with attention to detail in a remote, PRN capacity.Familiarity with electronic medical records and MDS software systems.
