Manufacturing Project Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing - Chattanooga, TN
Responsible for leading the cross-departmental analysis of the pre-series process in preparation for product launch. The role involves technical analysis of forthcoming product and process changes, leading the preparation of the pre-series build process, tracking the pre-series build process to analyze production readiness, and establishing countermeasures for problem areas. Ensure a smooth transition from pre-series to series launch by driving a cross-departmental team to solve issues and implement countermeasures on time.
Technical analysis of engineering changes in preparation for new projects and model changes.Track pre-series issues found during the build process.Ensure the on-time delivery of pre-series product to the customer.Initiate and participate in root cause analysis concerning failures of new designs in whole car groups and interrelated systems.Conduct cross-departmental analysis of the pre-series process in preparation for product launches using technical references and digital systems.Prepare and suggest proposals for solutions to product, quality, and process-related problems during prototyping, including the execution or initiation of agreed measures for responsible divisions such as planning, quality, and R&D.Prepare and execute program-related material demand calculations, initiate corrective measures, and start the procurement/order process.Analyze work processes, evaluate and display improvement measures for manufacturing quality, cost, ergonomics, environmental sustainability, and operating safety.Prepare and arrange workshops for special issues.Support staff regarding the corrective-action process for pre-series and plant corrective-action processes.Develop measures for technical and functional improvements of components and actively participate in the implementation of future products (frontloading).Consider pollution control aspects, operational safety, and ergonomics.Follow up on engineering changes and implement them in series production.Essential SkillsEngineering degree3-5 years of job-related experienceAbility to read and understand technical drawings and requirementsProficiency in using inspection-related equipmentExperience with process controlWork EnvironmentThis is a long-term contract opportunity with the possibility of permanent hire. The role offers premium pay, paid time off (PTO), and holiday hours. The working schedule is Monday-Friday, typically 40-50 hours/week.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $37.50/hr.
