The Procedure Area Tech provides specific patient care and environmental cleaning in the operating rooms before and after surgical procedures to facilitate safe patient outcomes under the direction of a registered nurse.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs patient care duties that contribute to the efficient, safe operations of the unit which may include but are not limited to:

Assisting patient care team in the transfer of patient to and from bed/stretcherAssisting patient care team in positioning patient on Procedure Area table or holding patient extremity for skin prepTransporting of the patient to and from Procedure Area or departmentMaking bed/stretcher

Provides necessary equipment/supplies for the patient care team which may include but not limited to:     

Restocking specialty carts with suppliesMaintaining par level of suppliesDuring Procedure Area room set, provides appropriate equipment/tables needed in the roomObtaining case cart or instrument sets needed for the procedure

Performs between case cleaning procedures which may include but are not limited to:

Cleaning entire Procedure Area roomCleaning specialty equipment/instrumentation/ carts.Returning used soft goods and instrument sets appropriatelyAppropriately handling contaminated instrument trays, carts, specimens, and body fluids.

Additional responsibilities include:

Troubleshoots minor equipment problems and initiates service calls for broken equipment as needed.Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely provide age-appropriate care to the patients served, under the direction of the RN.Responds to crisis situations and performs essential tasks under the direction of the RN.Practices professional telephone etiquetteDemonstrates effective written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrates proficiency in required computer programs

Casual HoursDay/Evening/Overnight shift availableRotating Holidays

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent.Computer skillsAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.BLS requiredAble to work flexible hours for training and support of the needs of the unit.
