Your role and responsibilitiesYou will lead and manage the ABB Process Automation (PA) Platform for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in close collaboration with business stakeholders, Information Systems (IS), and other business functions.Our vision is to digitalize and standardize PA R&D processes by leveraging leading software vendors and professional implementation partners.You will facilitate the platform RUN services, governance, and roadmap activities in close collaboration with senior divisional/functional managers, local country SMEs, and other key stakeholders. In this role, you will manage vendor relations and expand your network with ABB Group IS teams for collaboration on architecture, compliance, and security matters.Focus areas for 2025 and beyond include increasing business adoption of PLM capabilities (projects) and leading a PLM software upgrade project. Solution architecture expertise would be highly beneficial, with potential for future expansion to cover R&D CAD and other related toolsets.The platform utilizes the latest and most advanced technologies. Your customers will be thousands of PA employees worldwide, primarily in R&D, Operations, and Product Management.You will be supported by a strong and competent PA IS organization, which will collaborate with you on related functions and technologies. You will establish and maintain relationships with multiple business partners and stakeholders, ensuring you understand their strategic, operational, and tactical needs.You will be accountable for monitoring the delivery of solutions, services, and support in critical business areas, ensuring that OLA/SLA agreements are consistently met in line with business expectations. Additionally, you will proactively oversee third-party suppliers providing services to ABB, ensuring high performance and alignment with business objectives.You will also be tasked with identifying and delivering actions to improve the overall quality of the service. This includes reviewing and assessing the outcomes provided by external partners and managing communication to stakeholders through news updates, announcements, and detailed metrics reporting.You will be responsible for managing the assigned budget, ensuring all activities are completed within agreed schedules and cost constraints. Furthermore, you will provide input on any changes or projects that may have a significant impact on the platform and implement service monitoring and metrics for enhanced planning and transparency.In addition to these responsibilities, you will participate in new BUILD projects, contributing to solution design, evaluating partner solution proposals, and ensuring that implementations align with agreed-upon best practices and solution designs.
Qualifications for the roleTo excel in this role, you will need proven influencing, communication, and networking skills in a complex, international organization, with the ability to effectively communicate in English with stakeholders at all levels, from senior management to subject matter experts (SMEs), IT peers, and external partners.You should be an IT professional with over 10 years of experience in application or service management, ideally within a global, large-scale system environment. A general understanding of engineering processes and ITIL is essential, and experience with PLM solutions, particularly Windchill (a certification in Windchill is a bonus), as well as tools like Creo, Mentor, or other CAD tools, will be highly valued.You will liaise with other service areas, particularly infrastructure, where a basic to medium-level understanding of cloud-based infrastructure for PLM is beneficial. You should possess or be willing to develop solution architecture skills, with an understanding of PLM architecture best practices and integrated systems.Your experience in successfully managing global services or projects, along with third-party suppliers, will be critical. You should have a problem-solving attitude, the ability to organize work effectively without supervision, and a willingness to pursue necessary training and certifications, such as Windchill, ITIL, and Project Management.
