The Process Automation Specialist will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of our PLC, controls and robotic systems that are used at our manufacturing facilities. For the correct candidate, they must have knowledge in multiple areas alongside programming which include electrical and mechanical maintenance skills utilized in our manufacturing process. They will be a part of our maintenance team and work alongside not only maintenance mechanics, but other departments such as the Operations and Engineering team. This role will be reporting to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager at the posted facility location.
Not only is the Process Automation Specialist responsible with the specification, installation, programming, and modification of systems but they will have to demonstrate high capability when it comes to communication, interpersonal, project management, and technical skills as they will not only be working independently but also with various team members on all levels for various projects related to process improvement and automation.
Essential functions
Here is what the Process Automation Specialist will be focusing on and what we are looking for:
Hold deep understanding with automated systems, HMIs, and PLC’s as they will be assisting with installing, programming, and modifying various programs and systems along with resolving any issues related to process automation
Experience with troubleshooting and offering technical support for automated manufacturing processes and equipment at a manufacturing facility
Ability to plan facility improvements for effective equipment utilization and product processing along with assessing available options for technology and equipment throughout various areas of manufacturing
Able to show capability in communicating and promoting cohesion between groups within departments alongside providing status updates, and manage expectations between team members and leadership across various departments – being a key communicator is a must
Able to plan facility improvements for effective equipment utilization and product processing and can support lean manufacturing and participate in continuous improvement projects – project management experience is a must
Assist in the procurement; integrate new equipment and modification of automation software and equipment for material handling, production processing, and packaging equipment
Create, maintain, and monitor various sources of data such as hardware documentation for all automation equipment and current back-up of all critical data
Capability of evaluating and testing new or modified software programs/software development procedures along with developing new programs, modify or edit existing programs for control processors and HMI’s
Familiarity with the following programs: Rockwell Allen Bradley PLC’s, Studio 5000, RSLogix 500 software, FactoryTalk ME, SE, Mass Flow Meters, Festo Pneumatics Controls, Cognex Vision Systems, Keyence Vision and/or Fanuc Robot
Preferred extensive knowledge of PLC systems, and Systems Control Technologies including in depth knowledge of RSLinx, RSView, DeviceNet, Ethernet, and other networked based I/O systems
EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience required
Minimum 3-5 years programming and troubleshooting experience with PLC automation and related controls
