Reporting to the Technical Manager, this scientist will support the production of acrylic polymers for the global adhesive market. You will assist in the development of new products, trouble shoot production issues, address customer issues, and be the process chemistry expert.
Representative Activities
Conduct hands-on lab scale polymerizations and formulated prototypes of adhesives and coatings
Setup and conduct experiments, perform relevant application and analytical testing in the laboratory
Translate new product requirements to manufacturing capability
Support the introduction and qualification of new products and new raw materials
Assist in the troubleshooting of process upsets, and product-related issues at the customer
Assist in root cause analysis of upset conditions
Design and conduct lab scale experiments for process improvements in the plant
Coach technician and lab support colleagues to assist in their development
QualificationsEducation:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, or a comparable field
Experience:
At least 10 years of professional experience in the area of synthesis, formulation and scale-up of polymers, preferably acrylic polymer technologies, adhesives and/or coatings
Sound knowledge of polymerization, characterization and curing processes
Proven knowledge of analytical techniques and materials characterization methods
