Description

 

The Process Controls Project Manager is responsible for the process control system design, architecture, and the delivery of a functional operation for a $200M+ process unit.  The Process Controls Project Manager will also have a detailed knowledge of distributed control systems and their design. 

Responsibilities

 

Works across the organization to identify project requirements and develop a user requirements specification (URS).   Supports the DCS Program Manager to ensure the project is compliant for HSES, cost, schedule and quality (fitness for purpose of URS).   Supports DCS Program Manager with development of the Process Control & Safety Management Philosophies for the Project.  Responsible for the design, review/approval of specifications & key engineering deliverables.  This role will also be expected to expedite the project schedule, the installation, commissioning & release to Manufacturing a functional and operating control system, SIS, and cause/effects.  Work closely with the EPCm contractor, DCS, PLC, instrumentation and other relevant vendors to ensure specifications and performance are in line with URS and other Project requirements  Provide input to contractors during the development of the Control System & instrumentation equipment specifications. Review/Approve deliverables.  Assist and provide input on any purchased equipment that has logic, interlocks, or interfaces to the Control System.  Review/Approve deliverables  Obtain input from Eastman experts as needed on Control & Instrumentation hardware or software  Work with IT/Telecomms/CyberSecurity to define any interface requirements between the DCS/SIS and other systems  Creates/has significant input into the required documentation for development of the DCS/PLC configuration, programming, graphics, cause and effect interlock logic to meet Operation’s needs.  Work closely with installation sub-contractors to ensure system completion is in accordance with project specifications  Provide technical support and input for start up and 2 year operational spare parts needs list for DCS, PLCs & critical instruments  Provide  technical support and input for all startup and commissioning activities and planning.   Provide technical support and input with creating a loop check process and work with the relevant contractors to ensure correct execution.   Participate in all relevant reviews such as PHA, HazOp, SIL & LOPA etc.  Qualifications

 

B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Controls or equivalent  5+ years of Project Management experience on >$10M capital projects in an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) process or appropriate comparable arrangement.   3+ years of delivering Process Controls projects in the chemical industry  Candidate should have a thorough understanding of capital processes, from project definition through plant start-up with a focus on control systems  Outstanding communication and coordination skills and demonstrated team leadership skills  Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast paced environment  Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and dedication to implementing safe capital facilities  Must be able to travel as needed based on project needs  Open to relocation to the investment site as project demands ramp up
