About Cadia


Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

Who we’re looking for

Reporting to the Supervisor – Technology, the Process Control Engineer will design, develop and implement process control systems for Newmont Cadia.

The scope of the role will encompass troubleshooting, maintenance, system upgrades and enhancements, testing and commissioning, you will also provide training to operators and maintenance personnel. Ideally you will have had exposure in the following packages: Yokogawa Centum VP DCS, Rockwell Control / Compact Logix PLCs, Siemens S7 PLC and Plant SCADA HMI systems.

 

Key responsibilities include: Monitor the site PCS infrastructure status and resolve any issues identifiedImplement minor temporary and permanent change requests to PCS software/applicationExecute and/or support projects impacting on site PCSLead daily PCS pre-start meetings and checks and respond to key metrics including alarm rates & controller performanceParticipate in site operations and maintenance pre-start and handover meetings, remaining informed of site priorities, issues and initiativesAssist with diagnosis and resolution of operations and maintenance issues related to the PCS.Perform internal auditing and preventative maintenance, minor upgrades and validation of spares for PCS infrastructureSupport the site OT infrastructure and applications, including the PI Historian suiteParticipation in the global process control community

 

The ideal candidate will have experience managing and maintaining process control systems in the resources industry while providing support to maintenance, control room, operations, metallurgical and projects departments.

You will also possess the following: Tertiary Qualification in industrial control systems engineering (or related discipline) or Electrical Trade certificate (currently hold a NSW Electrical Supervisors Licence)Experience in process control systems specialising in resources/heavy industryStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilityHigh attention to detail and effective communicationAbility to interact competently with stakeholders at various levels

 

*Please note the position is a site based residential role with an on-call component.  9-hour day 5/2- or 10-hour day 5/2 – 4/3 roster.
