Position Summary

Responsible for leading process improvement efforts in the business units to improve plant performance. Design and develop new processes to support new products.  Provide technical and engineering support for manufacturing processes in wire, cable, and medical products.

Principal Responsibilities

•    Identify, plan, lead and implement improvement activities to improve quality, yield, capacity, and optimize manufacturing processes
•    Coaches in how to effectively support the Lean/Six Sigma effort to improve value streams or processes. 
•    Assist with process development and design to meet customer product requirements
•    Provide engineering support of products as they advance into production
•    Lead major projects involving capital improvement, process improvement, and new products
•    Provide technical and troubleshooting support for operators
•    Establish process parameters and controls
•    Complete development builds as assigned
•    Execute all required validation activity as required
•    Submit/lead capital projects
•    Assist in meeting KPI targets in relation to profit, sales, and on-time-delivery
 

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
•    Experience of at least 5 years in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Must be hands-on, comfortable working in the plant interacting with all levels of employees.
•    Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills (root cause analysis)
•    Self-motivated and ability to function in a team-based work environment.
•    Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take initiative in completing tasks with minimal oversight.
•    Previous experience in leading and implementing process improvement initiatives is highly desirable.
•    Experience with CAD/SolidWorks, lean manufacturing, FMEA, and Six Sigma Certification a plus.
•    Experience working with wire, conductors, medical tubing, process controls, automation, PLC programming, and thermal applications is desirable.
•    Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques to improve processes.
•    Ability to research, evaluate, and spec equipment and materials.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

•    Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, reach, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
•    May occasionally be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday
•    Required to wear personal protective equipment on a regular basis: hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, hard hat and face shield
