Process Engineer – LNG Research & Development

It has an immediate opening in the LNG Product line for a creative and inquisitive engineer to plan, design, and develop innovative LNG equipment, processes, and technologies. This position will be reporting to the LNG Technology & Product Manager based in Allentown, Pennsylvania. 

The LNG Technology & Products team delivers competitive LNG technology solutions, develops new products, and improves existing designs and processes. The Incumbent is responsible for leading research projects, designing and developing process cycles, designing experiments, and analyzing results to improve the design and performance of heat exchangers.

Required Skills / Abilities: 

  

This is an individual contributor research process engineer role with a focus on process cycle and new technology development for LNG industry. This role requires a creative, innovative approach, building on strong chemical engineering fundamentals. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in designing and optimizing process cycles using simulation tools. Experience with LNG production, liquefaction, and gas separation technologies would be advantageous. The candidate will be required to solve a diverse variety of problems, which may involve two-phase fluid flow, gas separation, heat exchanger and cryogenic equipment design, etc. This position involves up to 10% travel to domestic/global locations.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Define technology needs by working effectively with the broader LNG organization and develop programs to address those needs.Support and lead Technology ODI (Offering Development and Introduction) projects through the stage-gated development process.Design and develop novel process cycles and technologies for LNG business.Define and develop testing procedures to support the research programs.Develop new models and methods so that the results can be used by engineers to design heat exchangers.Work with the Process Engineering team to incorporate improvements into design methods, engineering tools, and work practices.Protect and expand LNG technology intellectual property and file patent applications.Collaborate with business/product owners to understand the business needs and create ideas to support these needs and offer solutions.Follow leading academic and industrial research initiatives in the LNG industry and heat exchanger design.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

B.S. in Chemical Engineering, advanced degrees a plusMinimum of 5 years of experience in a technology development or process engineering role in the industrial gases field; detailed knowledge of cryogenic technologies (Hydrocarbon cryogenics, LNG etc.) is preferred.Fundamental heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamic knowledgeSteady state process simulation experienceLNG liquefactions, pre-treatment, and cryogenics technology experience is preferred.Patent writing and filing experience is strongly preferred.Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsCreates a positive and productive work environment.Creates business value by delivering results with a sense of urgency.
