As the Process Engineer, you will implement plant improvement projects to increase the safety, reliability, cost, and quality of the plant through sound engineering knowledge and practices.

What You’ll Do

As the Process Engineer, you will implement plant improvement projects to increase the safety, reliability, cost, and quality of the plant through sound engineering knowledge and practices. You will be responsible for providing input on modification and improvement projects through all phases of design, equipment and material specifications, construction, and inspection of new or modified facilities. Other duties include:

Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety. Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives, and regulations. Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values. Works with contractors on engineering projects and capital projects with maintenance and production personnel taking into consideration safety, environmental and regulatory aspects of the job. Prepares OpEx and CapEx requests and provides necessary cost estimates and justification of projects Maintains process for managing process engineering files, containing engineering drawings, equipment specifications, vendor information, etc. Troubleshoot and resolve existing plant process problems.  Assist with new or modified plant startups. Contribute to structured Problem Solving. Increase site productivity, partnering with site management team, by implementing standard work, line balancing, and removing bottlenecks. Establish baseline, develop measures/targets, and improve uptime. Align with Business Improvement, identify and implement framework and strategy to reduce waste and improve quality, directly impacting the site costs. Use technical know-how for making time studies, material/man/information flows, layouts, etc. for identifying improvements.  Lead and/or implement these improvements ensuring controls in place for sustaining results. Employ hands-on approach to data collection, analysis, recommendations of opportunities, and implementation. Introduce innovative ideas and technologies and be a change agent to effectively implement and sustain. Ensure and/or support compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations; Support compliance with ISO 9001-2008. Execute Management of Change, Focused Improvement, or Capital Expenditure projects.

What We’re Looking For:

B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering  Experience in a chemical plant and/or working with hazardous materials is required. Applicable co-op or internship experience applicable. Experience from manufacturing operations in a PSM regulated chemical manufacturing process Computer literacy in MS Windows. Experience with SAP a plus. Ability to independently identify process problems/opportunities, identifies root cause, and implements solutions Problem-Solving, Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis skills. Ability to learn in a complex chemical process. Ability to apply chemical engineering concepts to a chemical process. Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives. Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
