ENGINEER
PROCESS DEVELOPMENT – MORRIS PLAINS

The Engineer in the Lip Category will report primarily into the Senior Manager of Process Development with a strong collaboration with Formulation, Packaging, and Industrial Chemistry (Manufacturing).
The Engineer in the Lip Category will work with the affiliates to deliver robust, innovative, on-brand and high-quality products and launches.
The Engineer in the Lip Category is a well-rounded technical professional with experience in the cosmetics industry, with a focus on lipsticks, lip balms, liquid lip products, lip glosses and anhydrous hot pours.
THE ROLE
In this role you will be responsible for:
Execution of process scale-up strategies for the Lip innovation program. Act as a manufacturing resource for pilot scale manufacture of Lip initiatives Manage raw materials sourcing for lips projects in pilot as needed Manage requisitions for tooling and change parts for lip development and projects Develop technical learning plans using appropriate internal R&D and Supply Chain resources. Manage all documentation and records associated with pilot scale manufacture, ensuring accurate recording of all work and appropriate filing and storage. Execute and document with excellence plant scale trials as appropriate. Manufacturing of required sales sample products to support and drive EU and/or US initiatives. Creative problem solving to overcome technical issues in delivery and current business. Clear communication of process development challenges, issues, and successes with senior management Close collaboration with multiple stakeholders to deliver the Lip IMP smoothly.
QUALIFICATIONS
We’d love to see candidates who have:
Essential:
Science or Engineering Degree (or equivalent years of experience) Experience collaborating with and influencing multiple other functional teams to deliver process needs A high attention to detail and hands on approach to running experiments. Strong ownership and accountability Ability to clearly and concisely communicate issues / risks to a diverse multifunctional audience 3+ years of experience leading manufacturing making/filling trials and transferring technical information from R&D to Production sites Experience in operating Pilot Plant equipment with minimal supervision Ability to troubleshoot issues in production and suggest actionable, practical solutions to Manufacturing Experience processing and filling lipsticks an advantage.
Physical Demands/Requirements
Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time Ability to occasionally travel to assigned regions – domestic and internationally. This will require frequent sitting for an extended period of time. Ability to routinely follow policies and procedure related to company practices and safety procedures Ability to operate various office equipment and/or laboratory machinery
Description of Work Environment/Conditions
Ability to work assigned work hours in order to meet the job responsibilities of the role Individual will be exposed to working in or around a lab environment with various equipment, machinery and chemicals. Desirable:
Familiarity with ‘Transformation Understanding’, ‘Basis for Scale up’ and/or Process Qualification would be an advantage. Understanding and experience of the practical application of Stage-Gate Processes.
