Process Engineer

Purpose of the role:

Visit Ardagh Facilities as required to implement upgrades, give equipment and process support, training and problem solving to help the plants achieve maximum efficiency, quality and safety goals. This role will focus on Front End Equipment used to manufacture Aluminum Beverage cans.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Technical knowledge of bodymakers and trimmers to provide support for (7) aluminum beverage can facilities located throughout North America. Give detailed reports on each project visit to specific location team, Process Engineering Line Manager and involved peers to keep abreast of each visit. Assist in the management of Capex budget for equipment wellness programs Assist in achieving Sector cost savings initiatives as budgeted annually. Technical support of operations to achieve budget targets annually Manage equipment upgrades and conversions to ensure they are implemented within the scope of the Project Timelines. Keep abreast of new diagnostic tools to use, train and implement into Ardagh Metal -Beverage N.A. locations where required. Travel to plant locations to assist, troubleshoot and resolve problem areas that are preventing budgetary goals from being achieved. Train employees on Standard Operating Procedures to maintain a corporate standard. Discover, investigate and integrate new technologies into the manufacturing area. Identify and lead manufacturing improvement initiatives and standardization efforts.  Conduct studies of existing line equipment and make recommendations based on opportunities to increase productivity, operating efficiencies, reduced spoilage, reduced operating costs and improve quality. Work with plants and equipment vendors on improving production throughput which includes equipment and system modifications. Analyze systems data to identify areas of performance improvements. Work with plants and equipment vendors to identify, analyze and develop Best Practices which can be transferred across the system Develop new equipment performance expectations and acceptance criteria. Produce and submit proposals for upgrading equipment to management. Establish maintenance requirements and strategies for new equipment. Assist in the start-up of new products and equipment. Conduct Equipment Mechanical Audits across Ardagh Metal Products, North America supplying plants with reports on items out of spec and recommend corrections.

 

Requirements: 

Minimum 5-10 years of experience in management roles in engineering or operations. Extensive knowledge of can manufacturing equipment used in the front end including bodymakers and trimmers. A working knowledge of cupping presses is preferred. Experience in managing cross functional projects. Cross functional mindset and generalist approach with the capability to communicate effectively on all levels of the organization and with all functions (i.e. understand and comfortably handle technical project details, project financials as well as strategic aspects of program management). Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand and interpret complex projects and scenarios while keeping a high-level strategic overview. Ability to prioritize under time pressure and lead a team to provide high quality results on complex business cases while meeting deadlines. Ability to multitasks and comfortable switching between detailed discussions and strategy reviews. Requires 75% + travel.
