Job Description
The Making Process Engineer organizes all activities within the Engineering department related to the Making Lines he/she is assigned to as Technical Owner. The mission is to achieve the highest levels of safety, service, quality, equipment reliability, and productivity. The Making Process Engineer actively participates in engineering work and provides technical support, knowledge, and guidance at the floor level.
ResponsibilitiesAdopt and drive Lean Manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methods that improve processes, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), Process Reliability (PR) defect rates, safety rates, and cost targets.Develop and/or refine Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs), including LOTO, Process Safety Management (PSM), NFPA 70E and 79.Ensure compliance with all relevant procedures, practices, regulations, and policies to maintain the highest level of safety for all employees.Create and distribute reports to teams and upper management detailing the progress and status of actions, including delays, scope changes, and cost escalation.Perform all work in a manner that is consistent with the company’s quality system and FDA good manufacturing practices, maintaining a clean and orderly production area at all times.Coordinate and participate in root cause analysis on PR/OEE shortfalls and develop and execute corrective actions that improve equipment performance, cost, quality, and customer service.Follow, promote, and enforce the company's safety and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.Assist with safety investigations and corrective actions related to safety hazards and/or incidents.Contribute to the training plan and drive the execution of training to ensure all production employees have received necessary training and are following all applicable SOPs, Work Instructions, and GMP procedures.Support the development and execution of robust systems to improve the operation and asset utilization, reducing unplanned downtime to the minimum possible.Essential SkillsBA/BS in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial, or related technical field.Previous experience in a similar position or multi-year experience in the Manufacturing Engineering area.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.Self-starter with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and manage time efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.Ability to promote and participate in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.Strong technical skills and experience in analytical problem-solving.Ability to plan ahead to minimize potential issues that may affect the company’s growth objectives.Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).Good understanding of FDA Good Manufacturing Practices Regulations (GMPs) and OSHA safety requirements.Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, blueprints, and manuals.Additional Skills & QualificationsPreferred experience with oil and gas, chemical plant, mixing and process of liquids/solids, food & beverage, or similar.Autocad skills are a plus.Work Environment
Fast Moving Consumer Product/Goods environment. Automated manufacturing process. Office Hours 7am-4pm (or 8am-5pm) M-F. This person will work in the office area but will be required to walk the manufacturing area from time to time. Both office and manufacturing areas are air-conditioned. The facility is heavily automated with sealer machines (labeling bottles), robotic palletizers, and advanced production technology. The facility has a lunch room with fridges, locker rooms, and safety PEP medical products available in vending machines for free. 24-hour security is provided, and the entire facility is air-conditioned. The facility opened in 2018 and has 400 employees.
