Summary

Administering to daily technical issues; understanding the product end use and material constraints defining internal requirements necessary to produce the product and addressing customer technical concerns.

Essential Functions

1.       Define Key process parameters and establish process capabilities and control methodology.

2.       Develop efficient methods of manufacturing to meet product requirements

3.       Develop and implement cost reductions, product improvement, process improvement and yield improvement processes that are sustainable.

4.       Monitor product performance – properties, physical characteristics (length, straightness, surface condition) and yield.

5.       Review customer specifications for acceptance

6.       Interface with sales personnel and customers to resolve any differential between customer requirements and SMC capabilities

7.       Maintain document control systems and associated databases

8.       Participate in Management review meetings as needed

9.       Interface with customers on quality related issues

Qualifications

Education and Experience

BS in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in the metals processing industry.  MS in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering preferred.   A thorough understanding of physical metallurgy as it applies to thermomechanical processing and properties of metals is also required.

Special Skills

The Process Engineer will have knowledge of the principles and practices of VAR/VIM/ESR melting, the ability to prepare written reports and correspondence as well as presentations to senior leadership, the ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, as well as excellent written and verbal

/*generated inline style */ For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $79,500 to $119,200 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1.5X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.
