ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

•    Process Engineer – Day Shift

Come join our Old Fort, OH facility where we manufacture products such as A&H Baking Soda, A&H Cat Litter, and A&H Unit Dose Detergent!

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Processing Engineer will act as both a strong individual contributor and cross functional team member as the subject matter expert in providing plant engineering support for all batch processing and compounding systems, equipment and processes in a high-speed, continuous manufacturing operations environment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions):

1.    Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within area of responsibility.  Support all plant safety policies and procedures.
2.    Responsible for identifying and executing projects to improve process capabilities to both improve operating efficiencies and reduce product quality issues.
3.    Create and implement detailed plans for projects/ proposals, targeted a to meet business needs. Identify and support cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
4.    Work closely with corporate and plant functions for new line installations, improvement of existing processes and the development of process designs for expanded manufacturing capability.  Must be adaptable to both process and project management roles.
5.    Identify and execute a variety of process improvement activities and assist production team resources by helping with production-related issues and quality improvement initiatives.
6.    Effectively interact with hourly, management and corporate personnel to develop strong and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
7.    Manage capital projects for both infrastructure and process improvements.  Complete projects as assigned within defined scope, allocated costs, time commitments and expected performance.
8.    Lead cross-functional teams, addressing technical challenges to achieve critical objectives.
9.    Understand business needs, risks and organizational dynamics as well as their implications based on developing alternate plans and choices.
10.    Develop and coordinate all technical training requirements for operations and maintenance personnel as related to manufacturing processing.
11.    Promote active leadership in the implementation of plant-wide lean manufacturing efforts and continuous improvement initiatives, integrating lean manufacturing disciplines in engineering department.
12.    Promote fair and consistent adherence to all local and corporate policies and procedures.
13.    Performs other related duties as required and assigned.    


MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1.    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or automation engineering.
2.    7-10 years previous, batch or continuous processing engineering experience in high volume, multiple SKU, fast-paced manufacturing environment.  CPG experience preferred
3.    Flexibility to work various hours and shifts as needed, especially during large projects, installations, etc.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1.    Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization
2.    Excellent communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc.
3.    Possess a strong technical knowledge of continuous processes. Clear understanding of mechanical and control system interactions.
4.    Ability to frame up, prioritize and execute process improvements according to value, cost and risk with limited supervision. 
5.    Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of employees to plan, organize and complete multiple projects from inception to startup. 
6.    Must be comfortable functioning in a variety of roles such a subject matter expert (SME) of a current process, a team member in a Kaizen event, and a technical resource for the maintenance departments.
7.    Demonstrated ability to execute, manage and/or develop projects effectively. 
8.    Able to create process control diagrams with knowledge of PID loops.
9.    Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced, dynamic, production driven work environment.
10.    Solid critical thinking skills and ability to create new, innovative ways to handle situations with a strong bias towards Continuous Improvement fundamentals.
11.    Understanding of lean manufacturing principles including 5S, TPS, etc.
12.    Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, MS Projects, OSIPii. Working knowledge of SAP Maintenance Module and AutoCAD is a plus.
13.    Ability to methodically collect and analyze data and make appropriate recommendations.
14.    Strong knowledge of production operations, including equipment, materials, work flow, etc.
