Responsibilities:
+ Review testing procedures and audit methodology of operators
+ Be able to conduct most tests and train technicians in most test procedures.
+ Analyze current test procedures using statistical techniques to ensure best practices.
+ Collaborate with the Department Manager to develop and document new testing procedures.
+ Build new test methods within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for user-friendly data entry and viewing.
+ Work with the Capital Project Manager and other lab personnel to effectively start up and document new equipment and procedures.
+ Organize and oversee statistical studies on routine laboratory tests to ensure testing is being performed with accuracy and precision and is repeatable and reproducible between technicians.
+ Review and observe lab operations and report all ideas for improvement and areas of concern (Safety, Quality, Process).
+ Serve as backup for Department Manager in the event of absence.
+ Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by department management.
Qualifications:
+ Four (4) year college degree in Engineering, Material Science, or similar scientific field.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
+ Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and work without close supervision.
Preferred Experience:
+ Experience in manufacturing, material science, and/or a laboratory environment.
+ Six Sigma Black Belt trained or willingness to complete training.
+ SMS Auditor trained.
+ Experience with Minitab or similar statistical software.
+ Familiarity with hard surface products (resilient, hardwood, laminate, etc.).
+ Technical and procedural writing experience.
