Type: Contract Job Title: Process Engineer III Location: Hickory, NC Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Hickory, NC Pay Rate: Based on experience Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm, may require working weekends/holidays or longer days to support installation schedules. Education: Bachelor's degree (minimum requirement) A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as: • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities • Problem-solving and critical thinking aptitude • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills Description CTG’s client is looking for a Process Engineer III who will be responsible for driving improvements in manufacturing processes and supporting the qualification and ramp-up of high-speed cable manufacturing equipment. This includes working with cross-functional teams across mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, and operations to reduce variability, minimize defects, and improve throughput. As a senior process engineer, the individual will use process excellence tools like Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Design of Experiments (DoE) to improve overall process performance and ensure a seamless manufacturing process. The engineer will also provide leadership, mentorship, and technical expertise to junior engineers and ensure safety standards are maintained. Key Responsibilities: • Lead or influence process improvements, defect reduction, and variability reduction initiatives in a manufacturing environment. • Apply Six Sigma (DMAIC), SPC, and other engineering methodologies to improve process performance. • Provide hands-on support for high-speed cable manufacturing process equipment qualification and ramp-up. • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities to resolve manufacturing issues. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., mechanical, electrical, IT, etc.) to support process optimization. • Develop and maintain standard work documentation including SOPs, SOS, and training materials. • Deliver presentations to leadership to provide updates on workstreams. • Mentor and coach junior engineers and support skill development. • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in the manufacturing process. Requirements: Education • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (minimum requirement). Experience • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment. • Hands-on experience in manufacturing, with a focus on process optimization, data analysis, and problem-solving. • Familiarity with high-speed cable manufacturing equipment (jacketing, ribbon stranding, buffering) is a plus but not required. • Proficiency in process excellence (PEX), Six Sigma, and SPC tools to monitor and improve processes. • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DoE) methods. • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills. • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and mentor others. Skills • Strong leadership, organization, and planning skills. • Creative problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision. • Proficiency in using software packages such as JMP, Minitab, and Power-BI. • Familiarity with engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, and controls.
