Process Engineer / Process Technician

Role Description

Our Site Evaluation and Restoration (SER) Team is looking for an experienced Process Engineer / Process Technician to join our team working in our D6 and Restoration Team to undertake remediation activities on a range of complex multi-disciplinary projects. The position is primarily field based comprising the build, installation and operation & maintenance of soil and water treatment systems. 

Our team is involved in some of the UK’s most complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. This role will offer the opportunity to progress your career as your experience grows within our business. Working with an established team including our technical experts and in-house drill team, the role shall be to assist project leads to design, build and deliver in the field a range of in-situ and ex-situ remediation techniques and ensure the delivery of projects within budget and on schedule.

Role Accountabilities

Remediation System Monitoring, undertaking routine maintenance checks, optimising system operation and collecting performance data including mechanical equipment operation, servicing and maintenance. Monitoring environmental emissions and ensuring control measures are implemented where required. Supervise site activities such as breaking ground/ excavation to facilitate the installation of below ground pipework and services ducts (including floor cutting, trenching, and manhole chambers construction). Build, install, operate and maintain soil and water treatment systems, including pipework, hosing and valves assembly using threaded connections, compression fittings, and electrofusion welding and installation and monitoring of instrumentation equipment (pressure, flow, temperature), as well as critical safety devices and controls. Understand remediation system design and be able to diagnose and repair remediation systems Use of GPS equipment to record and set out basic information Maintaining and using equipment such as PID, noise meter etc. Assisting with co-ordinating subcontractors. Building and maintaining effective relationships with Arcadis staff and client contacts on projects. Carry out maintenance and servicing alongside general adhoc duties such as maintaining workspaces, stock levels. The role will be based out of our Newmarket, Suffolk facility but will offer the opportunity to work across the UK across a variety of sites and sectors including manufacturing, petrochemical and construction environments.

Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience of working on site in construction, contaminated land remediation and/or water/wastewater engineering is desirable but not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate to cover the range of skills called upon to fulfil the role. Ability to operate plant and machinery preferable, such as excavators, dumpers, rollers, compactors, telehandler, forklift, MEWP etc. To be able to install and assemble pipe work, motorised equipment such as pumps/air compressors, valves, pipeline ancillaries and to be able to recognise different pipe standards and thread systems, while being capable to carry out repairs/ fault find as necessary. To have some basic understanding of hazardous chemicals safety, and compatibility with various materials of construction. Good understanding of using basic software on devices such as android tablets to ensure all data capture is in a digital format immediately transferable from the field. Clean and valid UK driving licence with supplementary entitlement for C1+E and/ or C preferable. Willingness to work away from base location as the role primarily comprises working on Client sites. Vehicles, equipment, overnight accommodation, and reasonable expenses are covered by the company whilst working away.
