This is a salaried, exempt level role. 

Position Summary: 
ADM Nutrition division is seeking a Process Engineer to provide support with process modeling, operational improvements, and strategic planning to maximize efficient use of all available unit operations to enhance its operations at the Florida Chemical Company located in Winter Haven, FL. The successful candidate will provide the location with process engineering support of operations and maintenance teams and work with the site engineering team to optimize existing standard procedures involving vacuum distillation, wiped-film evaporation and liquid-liquid extraction with hands-on data analysis and computer modeling. This person will have the opportunity to utilize engineering skills to improve operational processes and increase reliability, yields and operability.

Job Responsibilities:Collaborate with technical resources to provide process engineering support as needed to develop, sustain quality products to our customers.Work with site management and engineering team for process evaluation and optimization.Conduct process simulations, design experiments, and analyze data to identify areas for production improvement and troubleshoot issues.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and R&D, to ensure seamless integration of new processes and technologies.Monitor and control production processes, ensuring adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.Assist Production Manager in strategic planning of manufacturing activities involving the plant’s primary unit operations (vacuum distillation, wiped-film evaporation and solvent extraction).Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, quality, and health/safety standards. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls.Written and verbal communication of project activities and key metrics shall be provided to managers and other stakeholders.Develop requests for proposals, equipment sizing, equipment utility lists, detail P&ID’s, and other front-end engineering tasks.Proactively participate in safety, environmental, quality, and production processes to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.Maintain an awareness of industry trends and investigate the means by which projects can be improved, implemented, and managed - this includes capturing lessons learned and developing best practices ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures.
 Job Requirements:Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science or related discipline.Ideal candidate has 3-5 year of relevant project/process engineering experience working with manufacturing processes used for extraction/distillation of citrus compounds.Must be able to apply engineering competencies to practical real-world situations.General knowledge of codes, relevant standards, and materials/metallurgy related to processing/separation equipment.Knowledge of industrial chemical plant processes and related systems such as: pressure vessels, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, utilities, and other unit operations is desired.Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to be a valued colleague in this facility. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict, motivating personnel, as well as instructing and training personnel. The candidate must be able to effectively interact with multiple employees and managers.The candidate must be able to continuously improve utilizing independent judgment to solve problems and have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks.Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.General knowledge of software systems such as Aspen, Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Word, and SharePoint), and AutoCAD.
Physical Demands:Employee will work in plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Prompt attendance is a must.
