Description: Overview: Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects that improve product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality and service).  Provides solutions for increased process selects, increased material utilization, decreased costs, and improvement to product quality by planning, organizing and implementing projects.      Assists in problem solving, to ensure timely resolution of short-term process issues, and higher-level troubleshooting. Provides cost and schedule updates on assigned project. Provide general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals) and lead a project to get to root cause of issues, and put permanent solutions in place. Recommend and implement permanent solutions to long term performance issues, and improve existing and new technologies. Meet all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements. Develop knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering. Social and networking opportunities Weekly tech talks Community involvement Requirements: Pursuing a degree in 4-year engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related major Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity. Be willing to work in Durham, North Carolina Desired Skills: At least one semester of core engineering course work completed GPA > 3.0

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
