Process Engineering Technician

Purpose and role of job:

Provide process trouble shooting and setup for production to achieve speeds, efficiency, scrap goals, manufacturing cost, product improvements and new products.

Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

Works closely with Production, Planning, QA & Maintenance to meet daily production goals, priorities, coverage and special projects.Provide “Day to Day” process trouble shooting support to operationsAttends morning shift exchange meetingAttends pre-PM meetings to input on additional non-PM related work, resources, schedule and scope of work.Works with operations to efficiently plan and execute C/OsAssist P.E. in identifying the causes and solutions for material variances.Assist P.E. in identifying the causes and solutions for high spare part usageAssist P.E. with  monthly complaint trends and opportunitiesAssist PE in minimizing waste streams.Assist PE in establishing and maintaining maximum safe production speedsProvide support for continuous improvement projects on his/her assigned lines for improvements in efficiency, scrap, speeds, quality, and safety.Participates in daily and monthly operational meetings.Supports all machine and product upgradesProvides technical and operational training to operators and maintenance as needed.Leads and/or assist PD and QA on new product/process improvements and material trials on his/her assigned production lines while minimizing production impacts.Supports PD and material trials, by participation if needed.Provides process input on all trialsMaintains, audits, and updates as needed “Good Run” documentation, ensuring process conditions and measurements are defined, documents, and shared with operators.Co-owner of process documentation with PECo-Owner of critical process parameters.Analyze trends of daily process audit parameters and work toAssist PE in resolving any product specification and BOM issuesWorks closely with Production, Maintenance, and other Process Engineers to meet daily priorities, coverage, and special projects.  Provides operational expertise in troubleshooting production process problems.  Provides both operational and technical training as needed.Maintains Process Engineering tools.  Uses measuring tools, micrometers, Vernier calipers, tachometer, feeler gauges, pitot tubes, Strobo-tach, and high-speed camera.Follows OSHA and company procedures in daily activities.

Education and experience requirements:

Four years minimum experience with First Quality on production lines as a technical or operational leader. High School Diploma or equivalent.  Post High School training or classes preferred.Personal Computer skills including data entry in spreadsheet formats are needed.Must have excellent process troubleshooting skills including demonstrated Statistical Process Control use of control and run charts.Must be able to use technical drawings, machine schematics, and manuals in daily work.Must follow written procedures and guidelines, good verbal and written communication skills.Individual must be self-motivated, and able to work to complete assigned multiple tasks in short time frames, and work well with others under time pressures.Follow all safety guidelines, and identify areas for improvementAbility to work a flexible schedule
