Amazon’s European Transportation team is responsible for our transportation network’s connectivity across Europe to deliver billions of shipments each year. We collaborate with multiple internal teams (e.g. Transportation Design, Supply Chain, External Fulfillment, Tech, etc) to ensure a speedy and reliable customer delivery in the cheapest way possible.
As a Transportation Process Improvement Manager, you will be part of the Operations team owning the setup of the systems that decide how shipments move in the Amazon outbound network. You will be the subject matter expert for a new program in the EU network, managing system configurations on a daily basis, while developing new processes and solutions to allow this program to scale. You will analyze network configuration processes and tools and enhance our work methodologies to deliver faster and better. This will involve being in regular contact with a wide group of stakeholders to define project requirements and update them on status, risks, and impacts. You’ll also create communication plans to bring everyone up to speed with the new processes you implement. You’ll be the expert in charge of spotting the problems, seeing the gaps and inefficiencies, and creating solutions.
You will develop strong knowledge of Amazon Transportation systems and you will be responsible for understanding your customers’ business needs and providing optimal system solutions. You will plan, communicate and execute the day to day implementation of network changes in such systems, ensuring that they are set with the correct parameters. Acting as a subject-matter expert, you will apply dive deep and analytical skills to find the root cause of daily issues and solve them, while driving long term standardization and automation initiatives to improve systems and team efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
• Work with business and tech teams to define how to implement network change requests to ensure transportation systems are set up in line with the strategic transportation network plan
• Support network’s day-to-day configuration operations, optimization and expansion. Plan, communicate and execute the implementation of network changes in Amazon systems, ensuring that they are set with the correct parameters
• Design and implement processes and tools to enhance efficiency and automate network configurations, collaborating with both technical and non-technical partners to integrate a new program in compliance with EU standards
• Analyze data and gather feedback from stakeholders to identify any inefficiencies in current operations
• Delivering analytics and solutions that allow to improve network KPIs
• Complete regular reviews of process efficiencies, offering data-led solutions for changes that will see long-term improvements
• Deep dive into data and issues to drive short term fixes and long-term improvements
• Drive long term standardization and automation initiatives to improve systems and team efficiency
A day in the life
This position combines tactical and strategic responsibilities, with project management and analytical tasks. The job is fast paced, dynamic, and requires you to be able to flawlessly execute daily/weekly activities as well as stepping up to lead ambiguous programs.
You collaborate with stakeholders across multiple organizations to discuss network changes, using your system and logistic knowledge to help them understand what is feasible and developing an implementation plan. You then translate such change requests into network configurations, which you deploy and audit using multiple UIs and tools, according to the agreed SLAs. Supporting a new program in EU, you coordinate stakeholders to build new processes and tools to be able to scale across multiple countries, improve CX, and increase team productivity, speed, and quality. You deliver analytics and solutions to achieve network KPI improvements by enhancing network configurations.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Expertise in program management, including skills in breaking down tasks, simplifying roadmaps, establishing clear owners and timelines, setting priorities, and providing status reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail while managing multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in using data and metrics to back up assumptions, evaluate outcomes, and make data-driven decisions.
• Experience collaborating and influencing cross-functional and multi-regional teams to achieve shared goals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex ideas and progress to stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to successfully thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience and the capacity to drive progress in the face of uncertainty.
• An entrepreneurial mindset, with the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and other data analysis tools
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in Supply Chain or transportation roles is a plus
• Experience working with tech teams
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or QuickSight
• Knowledge of Python
• Experience in Lean and Six Sigma
