Process Lead - FOS

TITLE:                  Process Lead – FOS

LOCATION:         London, Ontario

REPORTS TO:     Operations Manager

Primary Function:

Responsible for managing operations of the FOS Process at the London Facility and to lead in EHS&S, food safety, quality, productivity, profitability, and efficiency through the implementation of strong leadership, effective processes and procedures, and continuous improvement. This includes indirect management of all FOS personnel and filling in for the Operations Lead as required

As a Process Lead – FOS, your responsibilities will include:

Manage department for compliance with all safety, health and environmental standards.Immediately mitigate safety, health and environmental incidents or concerns, searching out assistance when needed.Verify, document and follow up on all safety, health and environmental incident reports within 24 hours of incident.Ensure a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is completed on all incidents in department, and incidents as well as corrective actions are communicated to the plant.Review JHSC comments and action items in area and lead opportunities for improvement.Understand chemical and process safety requirements in the department.Ensure that all first aid incidents are properly responded to and proper documentation and notification is completed.Participate in regular safety walks/audits in the plant.Ensure all personnel, including contractors, comply with all plant safety standards.Drive towards zero waste generation for department.Manage departments to eliminate all non-compliances with food safety procedures and adherence to plant GMP policies.Coordinate and participate in customer and plant audits.Participate in customer visits.Complete/document RCA’s on all departmental quality investigations.Ensure completion of all Master Cleaning Schedule (MCS) inspections and cleaning.Ensure all HAACP requirements are met for the department.Ensure departmental operating procedures are kept current in accordance with plant ISO requirements.Monitor minimum inventories to ensure customer orders will be met on time and in full.Maximize quality throughput in the department to meet operating plan.Monitor and improve energy efficiencies within the departments.Provide vacation relief coverage for Operations Lead as necessary.Ensure departmental spend stays within budget.Minimize effluent or product losses to waste water treatment plant.Support Maintenance Department by attending planning meetings.Monitor process performance and work with maintenance and engineering to ensure equipment is operating as needed and prioritize and drive actions as necessaryLead corrective action teams to continuously drive improvement initiatives to reduce cost and increase efficiency.Identify opportunities to streamline operations to increase output, reduce waste, and lower costs.Meet production targets and yield targets for the area including expected annual plan and S&OP.Develop and track KPI’s & Standard Work in department.Provide, manage, and oversee technical development of hourly workforce.Generate a committed, efficient, and team-oriented attitude/philosophy and performance within the area of operations.Ensure departmental workforce receives necessary compliance training (classroom, CBT’s, etc.).Coordinate with Human Resources to manage the shift workforce in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.Issue all necessary disciplinary actions and/or assist the Operations Lead to issue when necessary.Ensure completion of long term scheduling of shift workforce.Identify high performers and recommend ongoing development opportunities for those peopleEnsure recognition of good performers in department.Ensure skill block needs and training requirements are met for department.

Qualifications:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences (or equivalent experience or qualifications)Problem solving and decision-making skills.Assertive, creative, energetic, and positive thinker.Experience in Wet Milling would be an asset.PC literate with word processing, database, and spreadsheet experience.Proficient, or working towards proficiency in statistical data analysis.Supervision and leadership experience in manufacturing facility.Ability to effect change through persuasion and good communication.Ability to deliver results in a challenging and fast-paced environment.Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.Project management skills, including multi-tasking and time management.Ability to lead a team and work as a team member with a variety of people at all levels within the organization.Proactive and innovative with a strong will to succeed.Ability to create an environment conducive to teamwork.Ability to always maintain professionalism.
