Job Description:
The ADM Glycols Process Safety Engineer is responsible for the mechanical integrity of the plant including Chemical Safety Management (CSM), Total Process Safety (TPS), and Maintenance inspection programs. This position will also be responsible for managing risk reduction recommendations (Matrix).
Job Duties:Constantly evaluate our facility and seek out ways to reduce process safety incidentsWork with the TPS committee to conduct PHAs, LOPAs and FTAsFurther develop the MI and PSM programs and oversee required inspectionsDevelops and implements projects to improve plant safety and reliabilityAssist Reliability Engineer with RCFA of maintenance equipmentUtilizes the Maximo work order system for tracking PM compliance and set up inspection frequenciesWork with Reliability engineer to develop long term inspection programsFurther develop the plants Management of Change Program (MOC)Responsible for maintaining compliance with critical equipment inspectionsMaintain Mechanical integrity documentation needed for PSM compliance.Champion corporate-level initiatives designated for operations facilities (safety, environmental, quality, ethics, etc.)Report food safety, quality, environmental, and occupational safety issues to the Plant Manager and the responsible personnel, and aid in the remediation of such issuesAdhere to the directives and guidance prescribed by The ADM WayPhysical Requirements:Ability to climb stairsPerform some liftingSit and stand for long periodsWork in confined spacesWorking with heightsBending, kneelingRespirator qualifiedWork in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot and cold temperatures and a dusty environmentJob Requirements:At least three years of engineering experience in an industrial setting. Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and organization skills.Knowledge of industry standards (ASME, API, NFPA, etc.) and how to properly apply themExperienced knowledge plant equipment as well as fabrication techniques and machining.Knowledge of engineering principles and be familiar with industry standards.Good leadership skills, able to work under time constraints, adaptable, have a high attention to detail and quality, and the desire to learn. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is essential.The person shall possess a strong work ethic.Experience and Skills:Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Engineering Field (Chemical, Mechanical or equivalent).Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in an industrial processing environment.Experience in using a CMMS.Knowledge of codes, relevant standards, and metallurgy related to industrial equipment.Knowledge of process safety review methods including LOPA and HAZOPKnowledge of industrial chemical plant processes and related systems such as: pressure vessels, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, hydrogen generation, Hydrogenolysis, distillation, utilities, and other unit operations is desired.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage personnel, budgets, schedules, and other resources.Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, management, and other stakeholders. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict, motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct way.Must be able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks, and strive for continuous improvement.General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo and Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Access, Word, and SharePoint)Ability to write technical documentsPay is commensurate with experience.
