Process Safety Engineer

The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for facilitating Process Hazard Analysis for the Commerce City Refinery. The Process Safety Engineer will serve as subject matter expert for PHA, LOPA, Risk Management, and other process safety elements.

Minimum Requirements: 

Five plus years of related work experience with an Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent

Strong interpersonal & communications skills to deal with management & technical staff in a positive & constructive manner

Good knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements including OSHA Process Safety Management OSHA 1910.119 and EPA RMP 40CFR68


Responsibilities: 

Facilitate/coordinate PHAs, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and other risk management activities

Support execution of the refinery Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) program in accordance with Suncor Standards

Support Consequence Analysis and Facility Siting studies and modeling

Recognized as an expert in the electronic management systems (i.e. Enablon) that support process safety

Collaborate as necessary with refinery departments to coordinate process safety activities

Actively participate in sharing process safety knowledge with other refinery staff

Identify and seek opportunities to promote continuous improvement


Location and other Key Details:

You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5455 Brighton Blvd.

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

Salary/Hourly Rate and Compensation Details: 

Annual salary range: $99,000 - $139,000; our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work

Annual incentive (bonus) program with a 20% target
