Position Summary
The Process Safety Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management program that strives to go beyond regulatory compliance.  This role will ensure that Plug Power is in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, including but not limited to PSM, RMP, NFPA and DHS. While the role is primarily focused on process safety management, there may be responsibilities that also involve occupational safety and health, waste management, and environmental regulatory compliance. The Process Safety Manager will also contribute to efforts that build a strong safety culture and ensure proactive measures to continuously improve Plug Power’s EHS program. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and is comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position requires a high level of interaction with all functions throughout the organization, including both verbal and written communication.


Core Duties and Responsibilities

Champion a culture of Process Safety excellence at the company.Conduct and actively manage PHA programs and documents.Conduct risk assessments, coach others on risk analysis techniques, and advise site personnel on appropriate risk mitigation measures.Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for incidents and near misses.Advise engineering/operation teams during reviews of proposed projects or modifications to understand and plan for potential implications referencing RAGAGEPs.Develop and implement Management of Change (MOC) processes.Develop and implement management systems, procedures and process improvements as needed to ensure continuous improvement in all OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations.Routinely audit all PSM elements to ensure compliance and identify improvements and best practices; identify and secure necessary resources needed and lead the effort to close gaps.Ensure that site policies are aligned with industry and corporate requirements; work to integrate these into site operations, maintenance, and project practices.Maintain EHS documentation including policies, forms, chemical inventory, training records, inspection records and facility Safety ReviewsServe as backup for Facilities Management in routine and emergency response situationsSupport sustainability/corporate social responsibility efforts across the organizationAdvise leadership team on safety compliance concerns and preventative actionsRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactionsPerform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial engineering or related field of studyMinimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Process Safety Management within a manufacturing environmentPrior experience as a technical trainer/instructor is highly preferredProfessional EHS certifications including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other related safety certifications are strongly preferredAble to interpret regulations and implement requirements in the work environmentKnowledge and broad technical background with federal and state regulations (OSHA, RCRA, DOT, DEC)Ability to analyze information, develop and deliver training programs, adapts policies, create reporting and proven progressive experience to offer recommendations for continuous improvementProven skill set with a variety of computer and software programs including: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and others.Capability to present information effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders while responding to questions from groups of managers, employees and the leadership teamProven leadership, teamwork and flexibility to manage changes in projects and prioritiesAbility to write reports and procedural manualsSuperior communication and public speaking skillsAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyExcellent follow-through

Pay Rate:

$96,800.00 - $154,900.00
