Process Simulation Expert

As a **Process Simulation Expert** at SLB, you will play a crucial role in advancing energy technology by delivering innovative solutions that drive efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization. In this role, you will use the **Symmetry Process Software Platform** to develop process models and support digital transformation across a wide range of industries, from **oil and gas to refining, chemicals, and alternative energy sources** . Your work will contribute to **product carbon footprint (PCF) studies, emissions quantification, feasibility studies, simulation-based facility analyses, dynamic studies, process optimization, and process debottlenecking** —helping industries transition toward a more sustainable future. As a member of the **Digital Technology team** , you will provide technical expertise to support digital product development and implementation across multiple SLB geographies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, guiding process engineering strategies and ensuring that simulation models accurately represent real-world systems. For more information about SLB, please visit **www.slb.com** **.** **Roles and Responsibilities:** + Analyze, design, develop and maintain products and assist in their commercialization. + Scope new or improved products, evaluate feasibility, and help specify the product acting as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in process engineering and sustainability. + Develop simulation models featuring common processes important to our project. + Develop and update both internal and external documentation. + Design and execute tests for new software features. + Estimate the development, validation and documentation effort in cooperation with the Project Manager or Project Lead. + Conduct research and provide recommendations for development, evaluation and verification of modeling efforts and criteria. + Help implement, test and sustain the product. + Define testing procedures for models, algorithms, workflows and products. + Conduct and coordinate tests, document results and make presentations to project teams and customers. + Provide timely corrective actions on defects. + Act as a liaison between the users and the development team to incorporate users’ needs and feedback on ways to improve Symmetry. **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering (or higher). + 8+ years of experience in a technical role as a process engineer or related role in Oil & Gas, Midstream, or Processing industries. + Proficiency in steady-state process simulation (e.g., Symmetry/VMGSim, HYSYS, UniSim Design). + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities. + Legally able to work and reside in Canada without sponsorship. **Preferred Qualifications (Assets):** + Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) analysis. + Experience in plant operations. + Experience with dynamic simulation. + Programming skills (Python, VBA). + International travel availability.
