**_What’s the job?_**

**POSITION SUMMARY**
Consistent with the Corporate Objectives, and World Class manufacturing principles, provide leadership to effectively manage the technical processes and continuous improvement of board line in gypsum wallboard and plaster manufacturing.- Train, mentor and develop process understanding and wallboard line by working closely with production, quality and maintenance functions to ensure the plant manufacturing process meets productivity, cost and quality objectives.- Provide leadership and drive business improvements through the use of continuous improvement methodology.- Support the operations, maintenance and quality activity functions consistent with business plan.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**
+ Accountable for maintaining a safe work environment. Must recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss. Required to complete safety audits/inspections of the assigned work area; thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, job safety analysis and attend periodic safety meetings.
+ Reports to the plant Quality Manager/ or Production Manager.
+ Provides information and training for operations personnel to perform tasks and corrective actions which address both short- and long-term process control improvement opportunities.
+ Establishes and maintains production control guidelines and procedures.
+ Identifies ways to reduce cost and continually improve process variations through the use of the WCM tools.
+ Make recommendations relating to equipment and building design, specifications, manufacturing process through the change management process and prepares capital applications for expenditures on improvements or new projects.
+ Keep informed regarding technological process, industry, and government standards and specifications and maintains plant product specifications accordingly.
+ Working at direction of Production or Quality Manager to continually define new and refine use of existing process control tools in support of process control plan, support regular review and direct efforts in optimization of process control plans.
+ Assist with and lead capital planning and project submission for production equipment.
+ Key contributor to productivity, autonomous/professional maintenance, Quality &Process Control and Cost pillar teams; manages assignment for special projects chartered by these pillar teams.

**OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Coordinate WCM teams in analyzing process variations and developing solutions leading to the implementation of sustainable corrective actions by using advance statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of these variations in the process.
+ Implement and execute developmental processes for production supervision to continually improve their knowledge base of gypsum processes.
+ Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

**MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED**
+ Broad knowledge of gypsum technical process knowledge, quality system processes, statistical tools and maintenance processes.
+ Five plus (5) years of experience working in production in an industrial / manufacturing environment.
+ Three to four (3-4) years of direct or indirect supervisory experience.
+ Familiarity with Lean / World Class principles and practices.
+ Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization utilizing differing styles of management; from directive, to coaching and support, through delegative, as the situation arises.
+ Project Management skills.
+ Change management skills.
+ Strong influencer with conflict management skills.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Must have effective influential leadership skills, and strong people development, teaming, and collaborative decision-making skills.
+ Requires leadership and innovation at all organizational levels, adaptability, customer and supplier focus, excellent written and oral communication.
+ Requires basic typing skills with familiarity of Microsoft Office Suite, and Internet access.

**PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
+ Experience leading focused improvement projects and capable of basic understanding and use of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Tools.
+ Experience in project planning, budgeting, and execution of capital projects
+ Prefer strong experience with utilization of key elements of World Class Manufacturing processes including Kaizen tools, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiment, Autonomous / Professional Maintenance projects.
+ Active interest and success in people development, training systems and error proofing

**“Additional Requirements”**
Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $79,500 to $123,500 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,400 to $135,800.
