Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
This is a permanent plant position with key plant responsibilities.
Scope of Position:
Utilize engineering principles and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects in support of defined process areas within fiber optic cable manufacturing plant. Responsible for weekly engineering reports and daily reject dispositioning. Makes decisions based upon sound engineering and scientific methods. Actively participates within and beyond department boundaries to resolve process and product issues. Enhance manufacturing capabilities through the implementation of new ideas and methods. Executes projects to fulfill department goals and objectives.
Work Hours and Schedule:
Nominal working hours are M – F, 8 AM – 5 PM Support off shift as needed
Education and Experience:
High School or equivalent 2 year technical degree preferred 2+ years manufacturing environment experience preferred

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Create and deliver the weekly engineering reports. Assists operations with daily dispositioning of rejects. Provide problem solving support to production operations. Execute assigned area’s process performance improvement (OEE), recipe management projects (Safety, Yield, Cost, Capacity). Interface with operators, team leaders, and peers to develop and implement process, equipment, and safety improvements into manufacturing. Work with engineers to develop equipment specifications/requirements for new equipment purchases and support the generation of proposals and quotes prior to purchasing. Complete basic installations of components. Assist in commissioning and qualification of equipment. Troubleshoot and address mechanical issues. Develop maintenance and operator training and troubleshooting documentation. Assist in generating spare parts lists and proposing stocking levels. Ensure all project documentation is completed. Support product qualification planning and execution. Support master trainers with the training of production personnel on new products, processes, and equipment. Support the transfer of new cabling technology, materials, and processes from development to production. Provide processing support during product development. Establish production and maintenance documentation such as MI's, SOP's, PM's, calibration, and troubleshooting guides. Work with and train maintenance and other support personnel to improve troubleshooting skills plant-wide.

The range for this position is $29.75 hourly rate - $34.50 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
