Process Technician

Job Title

The Process Technician, under the guidance of the Manager Manufacturing Engineering, will offer technical support and expertise to consumables manufacturing.

 

Responsibilities

Support Production by providing technical support with troubleshooting and problem resolution. Ensure equipment and processes meet standard production outputs. Test and evaluate new products and materials as required. Maintain and improve upon existing manufacturing practices for the manufacture of finished goods. Recommend improvements and corrective actions for ongoing manufacturing issues. Execute process improvement projects that contribute to the efficiency of process, improve quality, or enhance customer satisfaction. Prepare and present technical training and assess operator skills. Participate in cross-functional teams to improve EHS, quality, and productivity. Plan and conduct trials of machines, materials, and products.  Assists product development efforts. Other tasks as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.  Ability to read, understand, and follow schedule, written instructions, and job ticket requirements. Ability to work both independently and with limited supervision. Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude. Job requires being careful about detail and being thorough in completing work tasks.  Have ability to see details at close range to check for defects or other quality issues. Have ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object. Have ability to adjust the controls of a machine quickly and repeatedly to exact positions. Use hands and arms to handle, position, and move materials. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Excellent leadership and refined active listening skills. Support Corporate Programs such as 5S, ISO, SMED, Preventive Maintenance, Sustainability, and GMP. Proficient Microsoft Office skills (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for report generation, general communications, and appropriate presentations.

 

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED A minimum of four years of work experience in a manufacturing environment Hands-on experience solving technical problems and implementing solutions

 

Preferred Qualifications

Technical degree Five (5) years Thermoforming and/or Flexographic Printing experience Familiar with Thermoforming/Flexographic Printing Machines and Tooling  Solidworks and/or AutoCAD experience Experience implementing Lean tools for continuous improvement activities

 

 

Work Conditions

Manufacturing environment with noise levels commonly requiring hearing protection. Industrial Chemical Exposure. Stand, sit, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Lifting requirements:  Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out – tag out rules, and hearing and eye protection policies. Minimum 10lbs Maximum 50lbs (Anything over 50lbs requires team lift) 25 pounds – 35 pounds repetitively. Move rolls of Plastic/Board/Foil/Liner/Label Stock – 400 pounds – 1000 pounds (rolling material on their diameter). Move skids weighing up to 2,500 pounds with the use of mechanical or powered Pallet Jack.
