Process Technician I - Frozen Pellet Packaging

Job Summary

Shift/Hours: 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm

To process and package cultures produced at the Cultures plant. To combine materials according to formulas, procedures, and quality standards.

Ensure adherence to all quality systems including, but not limited to, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and Food Safety with an understanding of IFF’s Quality Policy and procedures.

Comply with all Company policies including, but not limited to, Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, GMP's, HAACP, Early Reporting of Pain, and Attendance.

Mix, blend, and formulate materials according to established formulas, procedures, and quality standards.

Operate production equipment and production tools, such as heating and cooling batch tanks, batch/blend tanks, freezers, scales, gauges, forklifts, pelletizers, packaging equipment, CIP/COP systems, and autoclaves.

Monitor the status of the production process.  This may involve, but is not limited to, oxygen monitoring, collecting lab samples; monitoring temperature, pressure, pH, weights, volumes; taking measurements, interpreting charts, and recording data.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions to make the necessary adjustments in the production process, such as adjusting control instruments, moving products, and adding raw materials.

Recognize atypical/incorrect conditions in the production area and contact the appropriate personnel.  Correct conditions outside standard operating procedures and normal operational parameters, if necessary.

Maintain accurate written records or logs of all production processes/equipment/maintenance/routine cleaning.

Monitor machinery and equipment to assure it is operating properly and make minor mechanical adjustments when necessary.  Perform routine preventative maintenance.  Contact the proper authority for major adjustments or repair.

Assemble and disassemble production equipment as required by processes.

Clean, sanitize, and sterilize all production/packaging equipment and other process areas in the plant.  Prepare materials for blending, which requires weighing and mixing raw materials in accordance with the batch tickets specifications, as well as using filling equipment in accordance with batch ticket specifications.

Prepare materials for sterilization, which requires weighing and mixing raw materials in accordance with specifications, and filling equipment with appropriate materials.

Move raw materials, equipment, and final products throughout the plant.

Load and unload process equipment.

Accept responsibility and accountability for his or her own safety.  Adhere to all corporate and site health, safety, and environmental policies and comply with all applicable law, regulation, security, and standards.  Assist in continually striving to improve/eliminate workplace accidents and illnesses.

Assist in maintaining process and non-process areas in compliance with current regulatory agencies.

Order replacement parts to maintain adequate supplies for production and operation.

Maintain regular attendance as well as safety meeting attendance and complete internet safety training.
