Job Summary
Procurement Agents negotiate the terms and conditions of all of the contracts for UMHS as well as manage all bid events making sure that the Procurement Standard Practice Guide (507.01) and the procurement rules of the State of Michigan are being followed. They also deal with supplier performance problems and collaborate with departments throughout UMHS on all things related to product or service acquisition. Procurement Agents are also involved in many of the cost reduction activities currently taking place at UMHS.

Contracting activities include: collaborating with stakeholders on the acquisition of goods and services; managing bid events; negotiating legal and business terms in UMHS agreements; collaborating with Legal, Risk Management, Compliance and other departments as necessary to complete contracting activities; developing documentation to support engagements following SPG 507.01 rules in order to obtain the appropriate signature on the Agreement; working with UMHS departments to solve problems related to existing or future contracts and working with Shared Services on payment issues.

Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
