Procurement Engineer

**Mission of the position:** The Procurement Engineer will have responsibility for identifying and managing capable suppliers for machined hardware, powders, and other components used for the design and manufacture of high precision filtration and flow control products. They will serve as the liaison between Mott design engineers and suppliers to quote and secure components which are built to technical and quality specifications. The Procurement Engineer must apply highly effective and efficient procurement processes to ensure the availability and quality of components, while achieving best cost position. Candidates are expected to have in-depth experience in sourcing and supplier management with a proven track record of delivering savings and solutions in a fast-paced environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**
**Major Challenges:**
+ Strategic Sourcing: Assess potential suppliers to reduce SC risk and cost globally.
+ Vendor Evaluation: Conduct assessments to identify and qualify vendors based on quality, cost, speed, and reliability.
+ Request for Proposal (RFP) Creation and Execution: Draft and distribute RFPs to potential vendors, outlining the specifications and requirements for products or services needed.
+ Category Strategy Development: Complete spend and performance assessment on suppliers to identify preferred suppliers in alignment with Business Unit requirements. Develop and issue supply chain strategies that reduce risk and support business growth.
+ Cost Analysis: Perform detailed cost analyses using should cost - analysis and benchmarking to identify optimal procurement options aligned with budget constraints and quality standards.
+ Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous contract terms and conditions. Drive a minimum of 4% annual YOY cost savings.
+ Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality control team and SQE to ensure the purchased materials meet all necessary quality metrics. Conduct supplier audits as needed.
+ Order Management: Support the tactical ordering process, from initial requisition to final delivery, ensuring timeliness and accuracy as needed.
+ Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain and nurture relationships with suppliers for long-term partnership and cost savings. Sponsor effective business reviews with Top Suppliers.
+ Supply Chain Risk: Identify and reduce supply chain risk through FMEA, dual sourcing, capacity reviews, and supplier performance evaluations.
+ Technical Project Support: Lead or support key technical projects (quality improvements, capacity expansion, and new innovation).
+ Technical Liaison: Serve as the point of contact between engineering departments and suppliers to clarify technical specifications or resolve issues.
+ Continuous Improvement: Use Kaizen, VAVE, and other methodologies to improve sourcing, competitive bidding, negotiation, supplier management, and other aspects of supply chain activities.

**Expected Performance Outcomes:**
**Required Experience:**
1. Develop and issue comprehensive sourcing and supply chain strategies for assigned spend categories.
2. Implement supplier scorecards and performance reviews to ensure 98%+ on-time delivered.
3. Develop and execute a project funnel to deliver 4% cost savings annually.
4. Improve the speed of quoting and product delivery by implementing best-in-class processes.
1. Minimum of 10 + years in materials procurement or a closely related field.
2. Experience purchasing to technical specifications with an understand of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
3. Prior experience with vendor management (global) and strategic sourcing.
4. Demonstrated ability to develop and drive category or spend strategies.
5. Demonstrated ability to drive to goals including working capital and cost savings targets.
6. Experience in negotiations and contract management.
7. Experience with should cost analysis and modeling a plus.
8. Continuous improvement expertise using Kaizen, VAVE, and other lean methodologies.
**Technical Knowledge/Skills:**

+ Minimum - BS degree in Procurement or Supply Chain. Degree in engineering a plus.
