JOB OVERVIEW: Manage Purchasing Department activities including sourcing, generating requests for proposals negotiating vendor agreements, and ensuring stable supply of products for the organization. Hands on leader who manages a team responsible for the development, administration and implementation of sound purchasing and supply chain practices. Oversee the purchase order system, including monitoring internal requisitions and purchase orders to assure all are issued correctly. Partners with finance and all other departments for purchasing related issues and negotiates most favorable pricing, terms, and discounts. Manages all aspects of the purchasing process to maintain inventory, parts, and supplies at planned levels. Develops sound procurement practices of perishable medically related inventory in a highly regulated medical device and pharmaceutical environment. Manages the company cycle count process including annual certification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Negotiate vendor pricing, terms, and discounts and establish all supplier agreements and vendor contracts.Prepares and executes negotiation strategies resulting in contractual documents and binding agreements.Manage the purchase of materials at optimum cost levels so that production and customer shipments are not interrupted.Resolve supply problems to minimize risk with production capabilities.Manage day-to-day activities of the Purchasing Supervisor, Buyers, Purchasing Associate, and Inventory Control. Provide guidance and growth opportunities.Participate in strategic meetings with the suppliers and business leaders to ensure execution of defined strategies. Utilize procurement analytics tools and ERP systems to streamline procurement processes and enhance decision-making.Identifies improvement opportunities for streamlining procurement processes, reducing costs, and enhancing supplier performance to maximize efficiency and value in sourcing activities.Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Experience with submission of chargebacks or rebate files via EDI is a plus. End to end supply chain knowledge, specifically with distribution partners and networks.
GENERAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. Strong negotiation skills are a must.Proficient with Word, Excel, and Great Plains. Excellent customer service skills. Multi-tasking is essential for this position. A high energy level and comfortability performing projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.Must be resourceful, well organized, dependable, efficient, detailed oriented and adaptable to change. Must be able to work well as part of a team and independently. Detail oriented.MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 7 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement and/or supply chain role required; medical device and or pharmaceutical environment strongly preferred. A minimum of 4 years' experience of current people management experience required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be working in an office environment, utilizing typical office equipment. The candidate must be able to travel about 10%.
COMPLEXITY: Work on complex, numerous and unique issues where analysis of data require in-depth knowledge of the market, company, and evaluation of intangibles.
SUPERVISION: Lead and mentor a team of 4 (Purchasing Supervisor, Pharmaceutical buyer, medical device buyer, Purchasing associate and inventory control associate).
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Typically, to advance to a new job level, TSMs must demonstrate professional behavior and should consistently be at the high-end of meets expectations or consistently exceed expectations.
For WA State only: The salary range for this position is $111,989 - $153,985. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including education, prior experience, training, current skills, certifications, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
