The Opportunity
The procurement specialist will apply experience and procurement knowledge to execute the and supply management strategies created by the Category Managers. Work with internal Abbott stake holders, and suppliers to solve issues. Drive Gross Margin Improvement initiatives, align global strategy with division strategies, communicate supplier escalations, provide supplier segmentation, and recommend preferred suppliers to divisions. This role will work with key strategic suppliers to Abbott. The position will be responsible for supporting divisions with electronic components manufacturers (OEMs) providing components to Abbott divisions or TPMs and will contribute to strategic objectives of these categories. The Specialist has delegated authority to commit company funds while contributing cost savings and partnerships with suppliers and internal customers.

Supports strategy development, Cost savings initiatives, development of procurement tools and Supplier interactions and relationship management.Manage supply constraint requests from divisions within the category. Escalate divisional supply issues related to suppliers within supported category. Analyzes possible solutions to mitigate supply constraints using supplier capability matrix, supplier performance, and internal customer needs. Communicates pertinent information to global procurement, internal divisional stakeholders and suppliers to keep apprised and to prevent problems.Support divisions in resolving issues contributing to non-standard work, including invoicing issues, supplier delivery performance, quality events, Last time buys, Lead time of components etc.Develop and execute against category strategies and work in the guidance of strategic category leaders.Serve as representative on project teams representing the needs of the assigned categories and assure projects adhere to category strategy.Manage SOWs/RFI's/Sourcing Initiatives.Create and execute RFIs, RFPs and RFQs.Request for Information (RFI) - Request for information from suppliers related to capabilities, capacity, sustainability initiates, global footprint, etc. for development of strategies.Request for Proposal (RFP) - Request to suppliers to provide a solution to a problem or project. Examples: development/co-development of a component or product or automation of a process.Request for Quote (RFQ) - Request to suppliers to provide cost to produce a component, assembly, device which has been specified/designed by Abbott.Assist with data gathering and analysis necessary for supplier selection and supplier negotiations.Collaboration with internal functions to drive strategic objectives.Educate on existing solutions and enable performance and development of procurement toolsEnable supplier integration and KPI’s.Drive savings outcomesStrategic Thinking:

Build rapport with suppliers assigned and support development of supplier relationship management (SRM) objectives.Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions to support cross divisional business initiatives and explore Procurement synergies and efficiencies.Seek and support business relationships with diverse suppliers.Meet regularly with divisional customers and support functions to ensure connectivity, alignment, and continuous improvement.Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance and to provide overall value.Leading People:

Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering, Science, Business, or Financial Degrees. 2-4 years of Procurement, supply chain, and/or relevant engineering experience.Preferred Qualifications

The base pay for this position is $60,000.00 – $120,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
