Job Title: Procurement Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking an intermediate Procurement Specialist to join our team on a 12-month contract-to-hire basis. This role will support the procurement of goods and services, lead the RFP and RFQ process, negotiate terms and conditions, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support project goals. This role will report to the Supply Chain Manager and will be responsible for leading meetings and presentations to executive-level stakeholders.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with peers as part of the SCM team to identify and optimize opportunities and mitigate risks.Identify and mitigate operational and enterprise risk related to vendors and/or parts/service supply/cost for growth projects in all phases.Manage confidential information while working with various clients, stakeholders, and suppliers.Gather, disseminate, analyze, and report market intelligence specific to the renewable industry.Identify, manage, and coordinate with key contractors and vendors.Assist with qualifying vendors for transactions, including safety and financial qualification, and use of ISNetworld.Collaborate with growth project teams, operations, corporate groups (particularly SCM), and external stakeholders to ensure superior returns on investments over the life of the facilities.Resolve issues related to invoice delays and difficulties in paying vendors and contractors.Handle contract formation, administration, and close-out for one program or multiple projects within PD&C.Analyze historical costs, capital plans, bid rates on external spend items, and recommend sourcing strategies.Support the operationalizing and governance framework identified by PD&C SCM across all projects and existing assets.Assist project teams and requisition originators with developing properly defined scopes of work and forming contracts and purchase orders.Prepare and issue RFQ/RFIs/RFPs, identify suppliers, and summarize offerings.Optimize cost through negotiation, contract development/execution, and consolidation of business unit/project requirements.Liaise between customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to facilitate timely completion of transactions.Administer and monitor contracts, ensuring strong relationships and low costs from critical suppliers.Represent PD&C SCM to provide the best overall service levels and value.Perform other SCM activities as needed to support the fast-paced project and construction environment.Essential Skills8 years of experience in procurementExperience with SAPExperience in procurement of services and materials, particularly in Energy, Utility, and EPC industriesExperience in purchasing and service contractsExperience leading an RFP from start to finishExperience leading meetings and having executive-level conversationsExperience negotiating terms and conditionsKnowledge of SCM processes, practices, metrics, and relationship managementAbility to understand and manage risk effectivelyProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, Wave, and SharePointAbility to identify key legal and commercial issuesStrong prioritization and organizational skillsAbility to travel as needed for in-person representation with vendors and for governance assurance across operating sites and EP housesAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in Finance and market intelligence and dataExperience with regulatory and legal requirements related to asset operationsEducational background in Engineering, SCM, or BusinessCanadian experienceWork Environment

This role will be based in the Calgary office with the potential to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The team consists of seven members. The role will report to the Manager, Growth SCM (PD&C). Travel may be required once or twice a year within Canada and the US.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00
