The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of duties, which include but are not limited to assisting with replenishing storeroom stock items, execute daily purchase orders, work with suppliers to ensure orders are received and acknowledged in a timely manner and assist with other related purchasing functions.  This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.


How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

As a buyer, some duties include but are not limited to issuing purchase orders, setting up new suppliers, resolving billing issues, submitting change requests to Purchase Orders and addressing any issue or question from stakeholders within the area you are assigned.    Respond to emails from designated buyer of MRO items for the Fernandina Mill (i.e. approve request from suppliers for price changes, order qty changes, suppliers’ inability to identify items being ordered and a host of other issues regarding purchase orders they issue).Review daily requisition backlog. Request quotes from suppliers as needed.Expedite requests that are high priority and handle with special attention to detail and follow through to completion. Enter vendor set up/change requests as needed.Negotiate payment terms.Monitor inbound bulk rail / chemical shipments.  Trace and expedite when necessary.  Work with Corporate Traffic, Corporate Procurement, and mill personnel to secure inventory required to meet machine production requirements.Resolve automatic voucher match errors to ensure suppliers are paid in accordance with pay terms. Perform month end job functions to compile QMS reporting.Approve BOL’s / POD’s in CASS PORT for freight paymentsCompiles data for corporate reporting, as requested.Clear AVM’s in JDETrack & trace rental equipmentEnter punch out for suppliesCreate RFQ’s in computer-based bid systemCreate contract for secured bids Assist Purchasing Manager and other buyers as needed on special projects.

 


What you need to succeed: 

Generally requires Bachelor’s degree, or comparable industry specific experience, with 5-8 years of related professional experienceAbility to work in a team environment and be self-motivated.Excellent organizational skillsStrong attention to detail Good written and verbal skills Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and preferably JDE (mill CMMS)
