Yes If Temporary, enter End Date: 05/31/2027 Position Summary The SUNY Cortland Psychology Department is accepting applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship beginning in Fall 2025. This position is offered as part of the Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) program designed to advance two goals: (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing ideas of diversity, equity and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipelines for retention and support of these candidates. Throughout the fellowship, the successful candidate will receive mentoring on how to thrive as a faculty member at a comprehensive college, balancing the demands of teaching, research and service. Upon completion of the two-year fellowship, the candidate will have the opportunity to be considered for a tenure-track position.
The Psychology Department at SUNY Cortland offers a B.A. and B.S. in Psychology, a minor in Psychology, a minor in Psychology in Schools, and a minor in Forensic Psychology. Our typical class size is 30, while class sizes in upper division labs and capstone courses tend to be around 12-20. We currently have over 300 Psychology majors and 15 full-time faculty with a typical teaching load of 3 courses per semester. Our program is aligned with the American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines for undergraduate psychology majors. Faculty have access to modern research and teaching facilities. The department is housed in the original, historically renovated Old Main building. Major Responsibilities Teaching: Teach a reduced load of 12 credits per year (6 credits per semester) for the

duration of the two-year program. The teaching load will include the opportunity to teach at least one course per year which addresses equity and inclusion as partof its content.Maintain regular office hours and provide advising and mentoring of students in support of an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.Scholarship/Research:Develop an active research agenda in a field related to diversity, equity, and inclusionService:Regularly engage in service to the department, school, college and community Functional and Supervisory Relationships - Reports to the academic department chair- Works closely with department faculty Required Qualifications Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship; Have a PhD in Psychology from an accredited institution completed prior to the start date (Fall 2025) Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service, or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in research addressing inequalities, background working with or supporting marginalized groups, research interests in the fields of indigenous psychologies, decolonizing psychology, critical approaches to psychology, with a commitment to promoting inclusivity, equity and social justice.


Preference will be given to candidates who are: Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows. From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
