About the teamThe Stripe Product Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all products at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications and supporting teams' ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. To further this important mission, we are seeking an experienced Accountant to support the Funds Flow domain – the heartbeat of Stripe. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the financial, statutory, and internal reporting processes, along with internal controls, and business support. You will also solve complex problems while working with large datasets and navigating nuanced system flows. This is an excellent opportunity to partner with our global Accounting, Finance, Settlement Group, Financial Systems, Regulatory/Compliance, Legal and Tax teams across Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Dublin, Singapore and Bangalore.
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of relevant controllership experience, with a strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and data analysis. You should also possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role will be based in Seattle and reports to the Funds Flow Accounting Lead.
Responsibilities Plan, perform and review monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, analytical reviews and internal management reporting. Partner with Tax, Treasury, Regulatory Legal, Finance Systems, and Engineering teams to support internal financial systems process improvements and automation related to new product launches. Design, implement and execute efficient internal control procedures. Automate, streamline and re-design processes to enable the most effective and accurate bookings of financial records Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedural documentation. Minimum requirements 7+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience in accounting, finance or an equivalent controllership role B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution) Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices Preferred qualifications CPA or similar qualification Payments or Tech industry experience Experience using SQL and self-servicing insights from large datasets
