Position Overview
Working in close coordination with the Zelis Payments Product and Engineering teams, this individual will play a critical role in managing product changes and API integrations to drive the strategic vision of enabling seamless integration of value-added services through a self-service API Marketplace.
This individual will cultivate a deep understanding of our API ecosystem and industry best practices to address challenges in API design, implementation, and monitoring. They will support initiatives to entice existing payers to expand their lines of business (LOBs) with Zelis, attract new payers to choose the Zelis Payments Platform, and create greater stickiness for both. Additionally, this role will focus on enabling faster, repeatable integrations with strategic partners to provide value-added services for providers and members.
The person in this role will contribute to enhancing efficiency, scalability, and user experience across our API solutions, aligning with Zelis' mission to deliver innovative and impactful solutions.
What You’ll Do
+ Develops a deep understanding of the API products and self-service experiences within the Zelis API Marketplace.
+ Supports leadership by providing inputs to and implementing product-related initiatives that align with the strategic vision of driving seamless integration of value-added services.
+ Collaborates with Product Managers to research and create Jira-based Epics and Stories that define initiatives supporting the API Marketplace.
+ Writes business requirements and acceptance criteria to guide the SDLC, focusing on self-service API capabilities and value-added integrations.
+ Demonstrates strong organizational skills to effectively manage competing priorities, ensure timely completion of deliverables, and maintain clarity across multiple projects and stakeholders.
+ Manages daily interactions with build teams and partners with SCRUM teams to ensure API projects align with strategic goals, including faster integration with strategic partners.
+ Prepares tasks with clear and complete technical requirements to enable repeatable and scalable integrations with partners.
+ Maintains and updates API documentation to ensure usability and alignment with self-service goals.
+ Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the API Marketplace and its integrations once projects move to the dormant phase.
+ Develops and monitors API performance dashboards to identify bottlenecks and improve system efficiency while enhancing the user experience.
+ Performs User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for API features and coordinates with stakeholders to validate functionality.
+ Supports prioritization of API enhancements to entice existing payers to expand LOBs with Zelis and attract new payers to the ZAPP platform.
+ Contributes to succession planning, training, and documentation for API products and their strategic integrations.
What You’ll Bring to Zelis
+ Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities while maintaining focus and attention to detail.
+ Strong technical understanding of APIs.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to align technical capabilities to strategic goals.
+ Experience managing self-service API solutions to deliver seamless integrations for partners, providers, and members.
+ Passion for delivering end-to-end API products that create stickiness for payers and foster faster partner integrations.
+ Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
+ Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3+ years equivalent work experience.
+ Experience with API integrations, platform management, and self-service solutions is highly desirable.
+ Successful operational or project management experience is a plus.
+ Healthcare and/or payments/fintech experience is a plus.
+ Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting API systems is a plus.

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India.
