Our client is a specialist provider of asset services, custody, payments and treasury services. Founded in 1864, they are the 10th largest bank worldwide and the 5th in North America, as measured by market capitalization. They are among a small group of highly rated global banks and are recognized time and time again for our financial strength, market leadership and philanthropic work.
Our client has a processing centre of operational excellence supporting 10 countries across three geographical time zones employing a Global Operating Model to maximise efficiencies across times zones and supports a 24/5 operational capability. The objectives for Malaysia are to enhance the scalability of their global operations, improve service quality via their ‘centres of excellence’ and to implement/leverage standardised processes globally.
What will you do?
Leading Change and Building Solutions
to work alongside your Manager based in the UK to manage, lead and co-ordinate the drive to enhance controls, automate, re-engineer workflows, and replace legacy systems.it is expected that the focus of the role will vary over time and that the incumbent could spend a significant proportion of their time on a particular task or work on multiple smaller tasks at the same time.to work with the other members of the Product Control team to actively execute and drive through change.responsibilities include delivery of micro projects involving business analysis, and business process change.key participation in the ongoing development of IT and other solutions within the department in order to create more efficient and value-added procedures.potential to influence and drive strategic change especially where process or functionality has already been developed.adopt and promote the agile approach to projects.to maximise the efficiency gains from technology and business process changes.Central Controls BAU Support
to oversee the running of, and in time provide SME/technical support for, the following central controls:daily Inventory FOBOs for Bonds, Exchange Traded Derivatives, Interest Rate Swaps, and Credit Derivatives.monthly packs that document key controls are operated (“SODS”).daily P&L attribution calculation engines for Bonds, Exchange Traded Derivatives, FX Forwards and Repos.daily P&L attribution FOBO reconciliations for Interest Rate Swaps and Credit Derivatives.Monthly support for the workflow tool used to manage IPV and VA balance reporting (“VCON”).to provide cover to a second member of the Product Control change team in supporting the following controls:monthly and bi-monthly MI packs for the Rates and Credit businesses.to ensure immediate and direct supervisors are kept adequately appraised of pertinent issues and developments.ensuring adequate documentation exists to support existing processes.What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
broad knowledge of financial products covering all asset classes is required as well as in depth understanding of the front-to-back data flows of a complex Capital Markets business.demonstrable experience of both system and business process transformation projects.ability to specify, design and prototype fully functional tactical applications.expert in using SQL (SQL Server & Sybase), Microsoft Access, Visual Basic (VBA) and Microsoft Excel.able to identify areas of procedural and control weakness and to design robust and automated solutions that dovetail neatly into a fully reconciled B/S and P&L.excellent numerical skills with the ability to problem solve in a logical manner.Nice-to-have
Accounting qualification not essential but experience gained within a Product Control department highly desirable.What’s in it for you?
